Praise for Good Value Gear is OK

I think finding inexpensive alternatives and posting results is great and gives people options. I’m not a big fan of posting true knock offs / counterfeits though.

I have big dollar stuff and low dollar. If minute of bad guy is good enough then that’s what I want to pay for.

I have a couple of bear creak things. I wanted to put together and AR for as cheap as possible. So I have one that probably cost me under $150 total. And it sits right next to my multi thousand dollar rifles.

The subject of this post is why I used to love the Gun Of The Week page. Occasionally you would see a guy/gal winning with a Remington or a Savage, and you just knew the ones who had spent for the best of everything were wondering why he/she was winning with a production rifle.

Let's talk bipods for a minute.
Having switched several rifles over to ARCA I found myself needing bipods that worked with that "system". While there are bipods that do the job better, I had long been a Harris user. That said it only made sense to convert a Harris from attaching to the sling stud to being ARCA compatible. A trip to the Area 419 webstore left me with a great conversion but my wallet just over $150 lighter. Not long ago, while perusing the ARCA accessories on Amazon I saw a Harris ARCA conversion that attached to the bipod's sling stud and made the conversion to ARCA. It was priced at around $43 all in so I got one. Well all I can say is it was well worth the cost.
Tripods, especially those carbon fiber models with the ARAC ball head, can cost you as much as $1000.
Amazon has a great one or two that are about one-third the price.
When I was working in the firearms industry we came out with a "budget" AR-15 that sold in stores for around $600 when everything else was another 50% more. The secret was it outshot even our 3X priced super duper tactical as h*ll guns.
@Wolfdog91 you're looking for bang for the buck. Nothing wrong with that. You have to be able to be happy with the ones that are so-so at best just like the ones that hit it out of the park.

I've competed in the past but I mainly shoot for fun. To win, you need to practice a lot and have some decent gear.

Years ago, I bought the cheap AR and had issues with it. Went to the range 5 or 6 times, different reloads, etc trying to make it work. Set it aside and bought a BCM. It cost about 50% more, but I have never had an issue with it in the 16 years I have owned it.

I bought a Remington 783, because it was cheap. The bullets keyholed through the target. I had to call Remington and answer a bunch of questions. They sent me a call tag. Something must have been seriously wrong because they sent a new gun. I had to go back to the gunshop to fill out the 4473 and do a background check, etc.

These days, I like to buy quality stuff on the used market. I have yet to get burned that way.

Good question ! It came to me between bourbons . More bourbon analysis is required .
So, I got the question correct. Do I win bourbon?

And none of that 'value' bourbon, please.

To the OP: Do your own thing, if that's what you want. Don't worry about what some people say. You could give money away and someone would fuss at you about it............

I looked at some high dollar AR cantilever scope mounts, an decided my ARs are not accurate enough to warrant the expense of one of them. Amazon has a one piece AR mount for $29.00, it was a Hiram brand and the had 1 inch and 30mm. I once worked with a cool old carpenter that was named Hiram, so I gave them a try. The mounts work great, I tried to get one in 34mm but had to settle for another brand. All 3 of them work fine, no movement, no loose screws. I don't think having a name brand on my scope makes me any cooler than you or you any cooler than me, it just works no cool factor at all and I am happy with that. Check them out Wolfpup.
