Last year in ND the plague destroyed my hunting. Didn't even go this year.

Were you near Dickinson? I have seen some PD towns in this area while pheasant hunting. I have given some thought to hunt PD's in this area but have never got to actually doing it.

26 miles out HWY 87 heading to Harden MT outside of Billings MT

Thanks for getting back to me. In past years I have seen a fair number of PD's north of Billings but have never hunted them. Have never been to the Harden area.
I used to make several PD trips a year to the Havre area but covid ruined that. The last year I hunted plague ruined two big PD towns but there were a number of smaller towns with huntable numbers. I don't have any recent info on this area---maybe somebody can give me an update?

Yes for ND but not for MT. But MT, requires a State Permit if hunting on State land---its inexpensive so I buy one just in case---I normally hunt private lands.

I don't expect to shoot a lot of rounds where I shoot. The ranch is large enough but I only shoot on acreage that is not irrigated or where cows aren't currently grazing. I shoot on the dry ground, mostly dens and strays that come across the fence line. I still get 50-60 shots in early morning then I'm done and headed to my favorite place to eat for a late breakfast. This routine is only an hour or so away so it works. By the middle of May it dribbles down to 10 shots or so and I stay home.

The plagues also affect whistle pigs. The rancher said he hasn't had one for 10 years and could come anytime, on the plus side he plans to put in alfalfa next to where I shoot! Hooooray!

15 years ago I might have traveled and gone with a friend to shoot and I'm sure it would be fun. I travel by air and even then I can't walk very far. I'm one of those people that you see getting pushed around in a chair. I feel really lucky I have a place so close. Really lucky.
