PPC primer ?

I purchased a ppc a while back. It came with some brass, the pockets seem tight with my Sinclair primer tool. But I get a slight black smudge on the case head when fired. My question is it possible the pockets are leaking by, without the loose pocket feel? These particular piece have an unknown firing count. I’m running 28gr
Lt-32, 64 gr Berger columns, fgm 205’s, Lapua brass.

Brass is almost as consumable as bullets in a ppc. Id start with a few new pcs that you know the history on and see how they do. You could have gunk in the firing pin bore or ejector hole

I get that too and have for a long time. This time of year, most guys try to get a new set of cases ready to go for the year and discard their old. Brass is a consumable and if you don't know how many firings they have on them you should replace them.
