220 Russian Lapua brass - primer pocket depth

Just an observation...

I had a 100ct box of the old stuff that comes in a gold cardboard box and used that all last year. I set my PMA primer pocket uniforming tool to cut .124" deep, per Tony Boyer's book.

The older "gold box" Lapua brass measured pretty consistently .121" deep before uniforming.

This new box of Lapua brass I just purchased is measuring .122-.126" deep, and as you can see, isn't cleaning up everything when set at .124".

Do I just set my tool to cut to the .126" now?

Curious to read what other 6ppc shooters who uniform their primer pockets cut to?

I have the K&M unit that is preset from the factory. I’ve experienced the same depth of cut issue as you on several hundred pieces of Lapua brass. Some pockets are deeper than others.

Just leave the tool at .124 they will clean up after a few firings. I just checked my uniformer - adjustable K&M tool and it is set to .124
