Powder trickle, Hornady Vibratory

Has anyone modded one of the Hornady tricklers to get it to drop single kernels?

I can't bring myself to pay 124.00 for a dandy.

I've had one for years and I have no problems getting it to drop one kernel of powder. No modifications to it.

That is what I was looking for. I use a dipper to get it close but getting tired of the tweezers to add a few granules.

Thank you sir.

As far as a manual trickler goes, the Frankford Arsenal is my favorite and the only one I use now. I love the rubber caps, one on the end of the screw shaft and one that covers the top and doubles as a non-slip base. The caps allow me to keep powder in there between loadings rather than cleaning it out every time since it's sealed. It's also heavy which Iike. And I have no problem dropping single kernels by turning the screw slowly.

Push the fast button on the Hornady trickler and it will really put out the powder. The slow button will be your friend as you near your desired weight. And finally, quick taps on the slow button will quickly give you the 1 kernel drops.

Outstanding, I am going to order one today on sale for 40.99 with free shipping.

You won't be disappointed. I did the straw trick with the end cut at an angle. You can single kernel trickle. At least with 4350 and Varget for dang sure. I did put a wedge on the side of the powder hopper between it and the main body away from the dispensing tube. It made the flow more constant and not intermittent.

Yes on the wedge. Completely forgot about that. Also, after a few years of use the, almost clear drop tube starts picking up powder residue making it difficult to see the powder. Just push a Q-tip with a little alcohol on it and it will clean out the powder.

Do you gents have a picture of the wedge? May be a foolish sounding question but I will not have the trickler in my hands until next week.

Another question, what is the height of the drop tube from base? My EJ-123 is pretty tall so I may have to make a base for it.

I thought it would be more involved like making a new drop tube with a V shape toward the end to get the kernels to line up like ants.

The height you are asking about is 5". I seem to think that I cut a piece of 2x4 and used it under the trickler on my EJ-123. No extra base is needed on the FX 120i. So, when I had the 123 I used 2 of the little, rubber bump stops you find behind mirrors and such. You can buy them almost anywhere. I put them on the bottom of the 2x4 to create a slight angle for the tube. Takes about longer to type this out than it takes to get it done. LOL.

Here ya go. This pitches the tube down a little.
