I look forward to hearing more from Boyd on settings.
Thanks agan for awnsering all my questions regarding the scale.

Boyd/Shiraz, once you set the Zero Tracking say for example to zero how do you get back to the weighing screen. I set mine to 1 but, unless I power it off then on it stays on FO.
What am I missing.

I think it is a nice scale. Although I took in downstairs into the reloading room (no drafts etc) and the grain weight climbed but slowly. It was zerod and tared and after rechecking it thirty minutes later it had climbed to 1.29 gr.
Sure doesnt seen quite normal. Your thought please.
I am rechecking it now with the cover down to see if it is someway being effected by air movements? We will see after 30 min. or so if it holds zero.

What does the setting of O do for Tracking when its in the FO screen but, only lists options in instructions for 1-4.

Thanks

I tare my scale often. That solves the problem. As I said these scales are a great value, and will do a good job for most shooters....but let's get real. There is no occasion where I cannot simply push the tare button before I start weighing, or for that matter while I am using the scale. This is not a high dollar, magnetic force restoration professional lab quality scale. It is a very affordable reloading scale that is probably the best value out there. Learn how to work within its capabilities and with its quirks and it will serve you well. If you want a lot more, be prepared to spend a LOT more.

I just got mine in this week. Loaded about 300 rds. this weekend. Could not be happier. You do have to lift the pan or at least touch it to update while trickling, but same with gempro. A lot less drift than gempro. I had to tare it 4-5 times out of 300 rds.

After reading this thread I had to order one and just received it. I am looking forward to getting it set up and weighting some powder charges to loading some cartridges. I will be checking it with another scale and check weights until I have come to have confidence it, and my use of it. :)

Thanks to All!

Boyd, et al,
Some time ago, when Herman Salazar still had his blog up, he posted an article about dealing with scale drift using static guard spray or similar. I thought it was a tongue in cheek article so I questioned it and he said his friend John had told him about using the antistatic spray. Well, it works. I have a fancy force restoration balance and it was giving me a fit. I suspected part of the problem was static buildup in the powder measure so I sprayed some material on a cotton cloth, wiped down the outside of the powder measure and the body of the balance. Things got a lot more stable after that.

Thanks for the info. Speaking of plastic and static electricity...some time back I bought a second SAECO Micro-Set powder measure. I got a heck of a deal on Ebay. It appeared to be unused and came in the original box. My other one was in good shape, but the powder hopper definitely showed that it had been used, having the usual powder residue coating on the inside surface. Excited about my new measure, with its perfectly clean plexiglass hopper, I set it up and tried it out, weighing charges as I went. I was dismayed to learn that it was not performing quite as well as my used one. After trying different techniques to see if I could make it come around, I decided that the problem could possibly be static electricity, and switched the old hopper from the used machine to the new one. That was it, the coating had allowed the static charge to bleed off because it is conductive. I have run into the same thing with new bottles for my Harrell powder measure. I will have to pick up a can of that static spray and give it a try, since a friend was kind enough to make me some new threaded powder reservoirs from 1/8" wall plexiglass tube. They fit my old Lyman 55 that has threads, my Hollywood measures, and of course the SAECOs. They all have the same threads.

Take a tip from Lee. Their instructions for their plastic powder measure say to run a pound of powder through it before using it to dispense actual charges This will leave a graphite residue on the plastic to cut down on the "static cling".

Plastic powder reservoirs on powder measures don't really benefit from "clean".
