Powder scales just came in. Great deal

We just received our shipment of Bald Eagle powder scales.

We tested many different ones for accuracy and worked with this factory to add the grain (gn.) symbol for powder weighing. It is very accurate and a great deal for the price. We import these direct from the factory and sell direct to the end user, passing on the savings.

Would be nice if you get them to do a smaller calibration weight, something closer to the powder charges we throw.

When you calibrate using check weights, you always want to calibrate at the upper end of the scales capacity.

But when you want to know how accurate it is in the range where you are using it, use an accurate check weight in that range, not 100X higher. You are assuming linearity that is not necessarily present.

Most of these cheap scales do not have the ability to calibrate with anything other than the supplied weight, but that doesn't mean it isn't useful to see that when you put a 30gr accurate, certified weight on it, the scale reads 33gr.

Your lack of experience is really quite obvious ???

While I realize you are The World's Foremost Expert On All Things, a personal attack does not really advance your case. I worked for several years as a calibration technician, and I am quite familiar with how to determine accuracy. But I know you will feel the need to have the last word, so have at it, my work here is done.

I remember when I started reloading I had very basic tools and was very cautious about powder weights. Not able to trust my scale 100% (a lee), I purchased a Lyman weight set. It contained weights from .5g-50g and I have used it every time I set up to reload.

It brought tons of peace of mind and confidence. I always check/calibrate close to the powder charge weight, not that this is correct, but for a beginner it just seemed to be the thing to do then and still do now.

That little weight set is a simple fix guys.

I received my scale, and I wouldn't call it a cheap one either just because it has one sample weight. It is a very nice unit and is already serving me quite well.

Thank you Shiraz 8)

Some reviews and testing would be much appreciated.

Do you guys that have been using these for a while have any comments? I'm looing for a faster, more accurate way to weigh without breaking the bank & this looks interesting. Does it read out to .02gr? Does it trickle well? If I could consistently weigh +/- .05gr, I'd be very happy. I suspect my current procedure is about +/-.1gr and it involves two scales for every charge, as I don't 100% trust either.

Sorry if this is not the place to ask such questions...

Am I reading correctly that it reads down to .001 Grams which translates to .015 grains?

The scale is great and has been a fantastic buy for me. It measures to 0.01 in grains and 0.001 in grams.

I trust it, since it's dead on with my much more expensive Tanita 1210 model.

I load for a few small 17 caliber wildcats, and powder charges are very critical. I also weight sort my 17 cal. bullets, and this scale is quick and easy.
