New reloader, PRS and ELR Shooter. Mostly .264 and .338 for now, probably more 6mm in the future. I was looking at the Chargemaster 1500 combo but mixed reviews on Brownells and could also go with a more manual approach if the increase in accuracy would be worth the trouble. I’m using a single stage press so I’m already pretty far down the manual operation road. What do y’all recommend?

Eric Cortina earned High Master in F Class at mid and long range with a chargemaster I believe..can’t be to bad..

Any scale that works with Adams Trickler will give you most efficiency and accuracy. Throw short in the pan, put the pan on the scale and the trickler will get you to within a few kernels.

As I have quoted my gunsmith before, "Accuracy costs. How accurate can you afford to be?" Ben is right the current Gold Standard is The Auto Throw and Auto Trickler with a super accurate scale. The entire system is available preassembled. If you do not need that level of precision then the Chargemaster is probably the best system. If you have the patience a well calibrated beam scale can certainly be accurate to +/- 0.1 grains.

I agree that “perfect” in reloading is ingrained in my DNA. I blame it all on my mother and still can’t let it go... “Son, do it right or don’t do it at all”. This advice has haunted me for 60 yrs, go easy on your kids & grand kids.

I use a chargemaster and check weight on an Ohaus 10-10. SDs are single digit on un-neck turned brass. By the time I double weight and seat the next charge is ready.

That is because Erik Cortina uses his 100 yard load development method to find flat spots in the velocity curve. I used that method to find a node .5 grains wide for one powder and bullet. I load to the middle of that node and the charge can vary .1 or even .15 on either side with no significant impact on the velocity SD and ES.

Now to do that method of developing it helps to have .02 gn precision and hopefully .02 gn accuracy and a decent chronograph. But once the load is developed it can be thrown on a Chargemaster and it will be match grade.

I prefer the M5 for developing and the CM if I am feeling lazy
