Powder Prices in Local Stores

online, there seems to be quite a bit of powder(relatively speaking) and even CCI 400 SR primers available today. I stopped at a local GS and they had loads of loaded ammo at sky high prices. They even had some Alliant powder, 16, 19, 23 and 26, for, are you sitting down?, 70$ a pound. They had two 8 lb jugs of VIT 50 BMG powder, 400$ each.

I mumbled to my self "you've got to be kidding". A store clerk overheard me and said well, if you want to shoot that's the price. I said, I do but not that bad. No thanks. Disheartening to a degree!!

A question, are any of the Alliant powders the same as any of the Norma powders? If so which ones? Tks

I found the same thing at the local Gibson’s. I spied a lonely 8 pounder of IMR4198 and got excited! I asked how much and he said “”$400”. I passed. I’ll be kicking myself if it goes up to $70/lb. in the future.

That’s the store’s that I don’t darken the door again on. He could of said I know it’s bad and we hope the prices come back down soon.

MRP is supposedly a tighter tolerance of RL22. From my use, it seems accurate

Probably not long, newbies and non prepers seem hell bent on slashing their own throats...along with everyone elses.

Bought two 1 Lb of IMR 4895 at 36$ and change a while back.
Berger 108 at $47.99.
He had quite a selection of IMR and some others.
Nice guy nice local shop.
I will go back soon and see if the supply has improved.

A local hardware store had a few primers, marked $30. PER HUNDRED! They're high on some of their guns but wow.

Around here [ South Texas } powder ,what they have is 40 bucks +/- a lb. Tommy Mc

In this Midwest area, dealer case price on the 1 lb. Reloader's is around $36, before shipping and hazmat.
Not claiming they have any or can get it, just the price.

I have come to the conclusion, for myself, that I have about enough powder, primers and bullets to burn out the barrels on my rifles. Once that happens, IF I still have to search for hours for components and pay outrageous prices, I will sell all my rifles, both Competition and Hunting except one>>>a Dasher to keep mostly for fun. I am sick to death of looking, looking and hoping only to pay crazy prices to shoot. If you know me, I have been shooting something from BB Guns to full-blown F-Open rifles since I was 8 years old. Giving up most of my shooting would be because as I age I have little patience for what we have to go thru these days to shoot. If it persists, I will turn my attention to fishing 99% of my time. If that happens, I will sell my rifles and they are excellent! Keep your eyes peeled in about 2 years for the deals of a lifetime! I hope it doesn't come to that>>>>but it very well may!
