Powder for 6ARC

Getting ready to make a purchase for powder that is more suitable for the ARC than what I have. Funds are a little limited right now but PV has a No Hazmat offer going. So I know everyone has been singing the praises of LeveR so that is in the cart and I am debating whether I should ad a lb of Varget.. Would like to order 2lbs of LVR and 1lb of Varget but when I throw in a box of 95gr Berger that about max's me out till next payday.

So be enablers and give a push. I will be getting the LVR regardless.

My advice ...Get ALL the powder you can under the no haz mat. and don't worry about the bullets.
Trust me, if this were three weeks from now and my new PT works hours were in place this wouldn't be a question. Also if I knew just how well the LVR worked I would be buying an 8lber local. But I want to try it first but not going to drive an hour to get a pound.

Well against better judgement I made the complete order for 2lbs of LVR and a lb of Varget. Was going to make it just a pound of each but decided to take everyone's word on how good the LVR is. Now to see how long it takes to get it. Last order from a different vendor to 19 days after it was hung up in StL. for 2 weeks.

I am using Lever in my 6 ARC gas gun. Tried Varget, CFE 223. and some others. Lever working the best.
But it will all be dependent on the bullet, the weight , and your intended use..

Just thinking back earlier, fella using Varget in a gas gun at about 1000 rounds or so was shearing bolt lugs.
If I remember correctly he had done that twice.

Was in some of the earlier 6 ARC threads. You didn't specify gas, or bolt rifle.

Good luck.

Lots of people use LVR but I had some CFE223 on hand and found it to work great. I tried N140 and it wouldn't give any good velocity with my 26" bolt gun and 110s. CFE223 does. I am going to try some N135 soon though as I have some but if it doesn't work I will go back to my CFE223.

Oh and buy as much powder as you can afford as it's not going to get cheaper. ;)

I have never shot an arc, but have shot plenty of 103-105’s out of a Grinch.
Which is pretty close as near as I can tell?
N-135 and AA2520 both worked well for me
Never tried the powders you asked about.

Used Hornady factory ammo when I started with the ARC ,got about 7 / 8 reloads out of it. Pushed a primer out using Varget.. Bought Starline 6.5 Grendel ,resized it to 6 ARC, seems to work well. Recently purchased Starline 6 ARC Brass, when it became available.

Thank you.!

How does the Starline compare to the Hornady?
