powder choice for the Win. 284

what powder would you guys recommend for my win 284?

I've had good results with H4831 & N165 with S175MKs & Berger 180 VLDs. RL17 will give another 100fps, but isn't quite as consistently accurate, or is a little more difficult to tune, or both. I haven't shot as much RL17 as I have the other two powders, but that's still my impression. If I had to go with only one powder, it'd be H4831 - it's less expensive than N165, and has given consistent accuracy out of three different 284 bbls.

Up to 140's --- H4350
Over 140's ----H4831SC
If you only want to use one powder -- RL-17....
Lots of other also, your barrel will like one of them over all others....

I have been playing with 264 Win mags for the last 45years. H4831 and H4831sc are with a doubt the very best. with 120gr-140gr

I've been shooting the Hybrid100V and let's just say it seems to be picky with 162 A-Max, my load is going across the chrony at 3011fps from a 26" barrel. 3 shots will stay under an inch at 100 but I think it could do much better. I have a pound of RL-17 to try then I'll try out the H-4831sc and hope I can find what I would think to be a good load. This is no bench rifle it's strickly a hunting rig so it's doing ok. Later,
