284 winchester freebore

Buildind a 284 win for any/any. Wish to shoot 180 class bullets. What would be a good freebore to order on my reamer. The ptg 284 match reamer has .188. im thinking .200-.220. what are you guys using

All my 284 win and shehane reamers have .220.

My reamers are 0.235" freebore.

If your shooting the 180gr veld then I would go minimum .245" to keep bearing surface away from potential donuts. Hybrids .210" but I'm not sure for 180 scenars or the 180 and 183 match kings.

Mine is just had built is 235. This based off of recommendations from some top Shooters on forum

I think a good point was inadvertently brought up. The OP mentioned 180 bullets, but I think it would be best to decide on which 180s.

180 Scenars are a lot different from 180 Hybrids, VLDs, etc.

The responses will be geared towards the class of 180s being shot by the responding party.

I'm not sure if there's a good all around freebore. I know PTG changed from 0.188" to 0.220".

The 180 Scenars need a MINIMUM of a .275 to barely clear the neck / shoulder junction with the bearing surface. If a 20K + jump is needed for accuracy, you would be much better off with a .300.. That is further out than any other 7mm 180gr. would need. There is no "all around freebore" if the 180 Scenars are included.

I have always shot .188 never had an issue with 180hybrids 168 hunters and 162 amax.
