Post precision shooting magazine

I have looked but not found anything. The typical "Camo and Ammo" and "Cast 'em and Blast "em" is about all that I see. I enjoyed Precision Shooting very much. I started subscribing in the 1980s and saved them all and have gone back thru them from time to time.

I haven't seen ANYTHING remotely even close to it. The detailed information in "Precision Shooting" was a rarity, unlike anything I've seen in over 50 yrs of shooting weapons of all types. Unfortunately, when they closed down, precision shooters lost a valuable source of information that has not and probably will not be replaced. At least many of us can say we had the benefit of receiving some valuable publication in the mail. I actually dumped all my weapons magazines as I'm tired of the pretty pictures, virtually useless dialogue and endless advertising.

Those knife guys are like those ninja guys just plain weird. Granted when you have a full magazine to fill eventually you run out of stuff to put in.

I agree with fdshuster about Varmint Hunter its worth the subscription cost. Its not PS in its heyday but worth a read.

That's what I thought. Dave, editor, put me in touch with Larry Racine in response to a query about being a novice looking for an honest rifle builder. He wanted to know where I lived since this would be the start of a long term relationship. Little did I know how right he was. Miss him, the mag, but love the comaraderie of this sight and pass time/ obsession. Thanks for all replys, and when a comparable gem shows up, let us know!

Defunct? I thought my issue was taking a little longer than usual

Yes, I believe Oct. 2012 was their last issue. I agree above that Varmint Hunter's Assoc. magazine subscription is a very good one to have. There are many good articles on accuracy and precision reloading.

I always enjoyed the BR articles in PS. I was not so much into the physics/math of ballistics but the shooting and reloading articles
were great. It would seem to me that if Dave was still around and wanted to help the PS fans that he might want to put these articles
on a digital foremat and offer them for sale. It might not be possible to do all of them but I bet that a 100 or so would interest a lot
of shooters, me for one. If not Dave then ???.

I miss PS too. However, Dave did not own PS, he edited. A fine Dr from the east owns it. Good man who is a gentleman in every way. PS just became not-profitable so, unlike our government, it folded, or so I understand.

Miss it very much.

Did see some fine writing from the UK in a magazine, but do not recall the name. However, it did have the Euro slant to it and did not always resonate with me.

Bring back PS!!!

I would disagree with that assessment Nat. I wrote for them for more than twelve years, and their coverage was not limited to any genre. This a fantastic forum for accuracy buffs, but I have not found a tremendous amount of non-paperpunching coverage. This forum is great, and by far the best available these days.
