Digital Precision Shooting Magazine

Anybody know anything about the indexes made for Precision Shooting? I see references to them, but have never laid eyes on one. The ad below (1997) talks about a 3rd party index, and also one published internally. I am going to put together a full index once I am finished digitizing everything, and this would at least help me get a good start. If anybody has any info, please let me know!

I'm pretty sure I had one of the newer but shorter indexes from PS but if I actually did I didn't save it. I just checked the files and all I've saved are the Tac Shooter issues and about a dozen Prec Shooter that had info I tagged to save.

Precision Shooting Archive (chronological order)

Precision Shooting Archive (most recently uploaded)

Hit the first big milestone today. The 1980s are completely scanned and uploaded to the archive! The entire 1960s should be likewise complete within a couple of weeks. I am still in need of the issues below if anybody has any they are willing to loan out for a week or two. Thanks!

1956: All issues (except Dec)
1957: All issues (except Jul)
1958: All issues (except Dec)
1959: Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Oct

1971: Jan, Feb, Mar
1972: Jul, Aug, Sep, Dec
1973: Jan, Mar, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec
1974: All issues
1975: Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Dec

This is great, I'm already fascinated reading those 1950's copies. How things have changed yet remained unchanged. I chuckled at a letter bemoaning the youth being in too much of a hurry and the lack of common sense! Many hours of reading ahead I think. Thank you for all the effort in scanning and uploading.

The poor guy who wrote the letter about the youth of his day.... he would certainly be rolling over in his grave if he saw what was going on today!

I found it fascinating when working through some of the 1990s issues just how quick some things come and go, while others stay. I don't seem to see much written about 'moly-coated' bullets or 'cryo-freezing' barrels these days, whereas back then it was all the rage!

Does anybody know exactly which year/month they quit publishing Accurate Rifle Magazine? I think I have most of them and will be digitizing as part of this project, but not sure when it ended.

Also, does anybody know what years/months Shooters News ran for? There was a Shooters News predecessor publication to Precision Shooting (pre-1956) and then a later competitor publication that took the same name and ran at least sometime in the late 90s. I would be interested in information on both.

I'm actually looking for a few articles by Dave Beisner on the .308 Baer. One is titled "Loading for the Baer" and the other is "A Case For Cases". If anybody has them or knows which issues of Precision Shooting they are in, please help! Thank you.

Any idea at all what timeframe they might have been published?

If anyone sees an article written by Brennen that refers to his 222 Revenge, please PM me with the date and month. It was a Superior of Dryden rifle and I research those.

I will open up what I am missing to include the runs of Tactical Shooter and Accurate Rifle as well. It should be pretty easy to get the complete runs of each of those. If anybody has any of these they would be willing to loan out for digitizing, please send me a PM. Thanks!

What I am missing:

Precision Shooting:
1956: All issues (except Dec)
1957: All issues (except Jul)
1958: All issues (except Dec)
1959: Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Oct

1971: Jan, Feb, Mar
1972: Jul, Aug, Sep, Dec
1973: Jan, Mar, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec
1974: All issues
1975: Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Dec

Tactical Shooter:
1998: Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Aug Oct Dec
1999: All issues
2000: Jan Mar May June July

Accurate Rifle:
2002: Jun Aug Sep Oct Nov December
2003: Feb Apr May Jun Jul Aug Nov Dec
2004: All issues (except March)
2005: All Issues

Tactical Shooter:
1998: Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Aug Oct Dec
1999: All issues
2000: Jan Mar May June July
I believe Tac Shooter skipped Feb of 98 in that first year, there was some some sort of printing mixup as I recall. The final issue for Tac Shooter was Oct 2000 and then transitioned to Accurate Shooter. Tac Shooter July 99 was the Carlos Hathcock cover and memorial issue. Seems that I gave away all of the Accurate Rifle.

Tac Shooter that I have:
1998: Jan Mar Apr May Jun July Aug Sept Oct Nov Dec
1999: Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun July Aug Sept Oct Nov Dec
2000: Feb Mar Apr May Jun July Aug Sept Oct

Thought I would give this a bump:

Precision Shooting Archive
Hoping somebody will come through with any of the following they might be willing to loan out for scanning:

In search of:
1956: All issues (except Dec)
1957: All issues (except Jul)
1958: All issues (except Dec)
1959: Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Oct

1971: Jan, Feb, Mar
1972: Jul, Aug, Sep, Dec
1973: Jan, Mar, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec
1974: All issues (except Dec)
1975: Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul

Thanks again so much to those who have already contributed!

I think I have enough to keep me busy for a long time. What a great project you have taken on sir! You are commended for your work. Like many guys here, I also kept bunches of those magazines until the boxes got out of hand, and with us moving all over the West they finally went to the dumpster. I Wish I had them back.
