Great read! What a soldier. To think he racked up all those kills with iron sights. And while often in the heat of battle I'm sure! A truly amazing feat of marksmanship and heroism in defending his country.

There are many many snipers from wars past who were very deadly to include several Rusian women snipers.
Lots if interesting reading about them out there as well.

He was a true soldier , and was doing his duty, not a hero in his own words. He probably did not feel the PTSD effects like soldiers now, because he had the FULL support of his "COUNTRY " afterwards... He did probably feel the aftermath of the 8x57 round that hit him in the jawbone. He was brave beyond the call of duty!

One of the most powerful concepts in this world, with the impossibly of being "shaken" is a "made up mind".. These Finns had such a mind. They were simply NEVER going to give up. This breeds a strong sense of patriotism and along with that, it breeds GREAT men like this sniper. Between him and their greatly outnumbered, outgunned military, they leveled a sizable portion of the Soviet military machine! OH IF WE AMERICANS could get such a mind like those Finns, we would not be in the "political position" we find ourselves currently in!

We have that mind in many of us, if the day ever comes you will see it, like our forefathers. The Finns did a great job, but dont underestimate our people or judge them by the media portrayal of we have millions of badasses.

Oh I know we have great men and women! I was referring to "the masses of Americans" in general. I don't think, at this point in time, we have what the Finn's had back then. neither do I think the "nation as a whole" has what our WWII generation had..
