I like .3's for the first pass until I get near the top of the load then I drop to .1's. Second pass I will do .1's for a half a grain or so if I find a nice flat node just to determine how wide it is. I don't shoot any cartridge that uses more than 45 grains max

I’ll load some up in .2 increments. 3 rounds at a time then load up 4 or 5 more of the best load at the range to see if it repeats and shoot it in the same hole.

For initial testing i typically load in 1% increments. If a case holds ~ 20-25gr like .223, then I'll load in .2gr increments. Something in 50gr range like 30-06, I'll do .5gr increments.

I'm a newbie at reloading bottleneck rifle...started with 6.5 Creedmoor and have been adjusting in .1 gr. increments. I did find that my Savage 10 in 6.5CM does not care one bit about seating depth so I load to magazine length (factory length) and leave it.

I an NOT an expert loader though I have been since the 70s.. l still consider myself a beginner and approach loading that way. After choosing bullet and caliber l consult the loading manual for a desired powder.. l take the min and max, add them together and divide by ''2''.. That's my starting load.. My next powder weight will be chosen the same way...

It all depends on the size of the case.

Example....

300winmag - 0.4 or 0.5 gr increments will hit a node, then I find tune in 0.2 or 0.3 increments.

308 win I start with 0.4 gr, then narrow it down with 0.2

223 - start with 0.3 gr and finish with 0.1 gr

I also use similar increments as well, ...it varies due to cartridge capacity.
