Polishing the inside of FL sizing die

Came across a box full of various sizing dies at an estate sale.
Pretty nasty from years of storage in a garage in an open box.
Will run them thru my ultra sonic cleaner, but the insides of the dies need some love.
Flitz on a soft clean shotgun barrel mop on the end of my drill?

thats what i did on some of mine (flitz/shotgun mop/drill).

Never had any ill effects from polishing it with that and those dies have been very smooth for me resizing brass.

I had a Die that was not the smoothest from the maker , and started getting a buildup of Brass inside . Wanted to "polish" it , and maybe smooth out some of the scratches in the Bore . My guy at the local ACE Hardware suggested some Never Dull , so I gave it a try . It didn't take out all the scratches , but it did clean up the bore to shiny , so I give it a clean-up every once in a while . About five bucks for a can of this wadding , and it's available at most ACE Hardware stores .

There's actually two different Nevr-Dull on Amazon. One called Nevr-Dull by Eagle One for like $7.62, and one Nevr-Dull The Original Magic Wadding Polish for $16.96. Is there a difference?

I used to use it on my Harley side covers! A lot of work but made it look like chrome!

What about some of the purple {fine finish} JB Bore Paste on a bore mop?
If there is rust in the bore of the die unless it is just superficial than most likely nothing will restore it but the JB will smooth out light pitting/scratches. Just spin it up with a drill motor, I mounted the mop into the “jag end” piece of an old 3 piece cleaning rod set.
The 1’000 grit on the split dowel and a drill motor also sounds good and I have used 1’200 grit Wet & Dry lubricated with kerosene to remove light scratching in a die that was due to trying to use “dry lube”.
{I have tried both versions on the market and had the same scratching problem which I think is due to the ceramic balls shedding particles… Now, only my own version of Neo Lube… Works a treat and definitely eases mandreling and seating force}

Most of my new dies I'll run 1000 or 1500 git lightly on the inside
just to take any high spots or ruff edges down. Won't hurt a thing.
If they have rusting or pits, might be another issue.

I somehow scratched the inside of my .223 SB die running a lot of cleaned brass thru it. After getting mad @ doing this, another replacement die was ordered & since there was nothing to lose, I got a small wooden dowel & some very fine emery cloth in strips. The emery strip was placed in the split in the end of the dowel, lubed with a thin oil & spun in the interior of the die for about 10 to 12 seconds with a drill.

After cleaning out the oil & anything inside the die, you could see that the scratch was gone. Reinstalling the die & resizing some more brass; the scratching into the brass was gone & no internal dimensions were changed. If you were to run the dowel for any length of time, it could ruin the die, but with light pressure & emery cloth, you would have to work @ it pretty hard.

I saved my sizing die & now I have a spare set. The rescued die was dated 1979.

Really don't know if there is a difference between them . Didn't even know there was two .

All I've ever used is the original. I keep the can in a gallon zip-lock bag. They last for years no more than I use it.
