Pointing Hornady 6mm 105 BTHP Match Bullet

Has anyone pointed the Hornady 6mm 105 BTHP Match Bullet? I just picked up 500 of them and figured why not run them through the pointer. They looked like they had a slight point from the factory but after running them through a Whidden bullet pointing die they became more uniform.

My question who has pointed these, and what were your end results? I have not been able to find any information on pointing this particular bullet.

I'd be interested to know any other information you can impart on the apparent quality, weight deviation, accuracy findings, etc. regarding this bullet. I asked a few of my buddies and they had not tried them either.

I used them to fireform Dasher brass about three weeks ago.

I shot quite a few groups with them at 100 and 600 yards.

I shot a 12 shot 100 yard group that was under a half inch.

All the groups shot at 600 were quite good, most aroud a half minute. A few smaller.

All in all it looks like a good bullet.

Searcher,

I can tell you from past experience with Hornady bullets with the AMP jacket the accuracy I have found is good for me. My normal load for my XC was 38.5 H350 under a 105 Amax set .020 off of the lands in fire-formed Win 22-250 brass. This load was a tack driver shot a .197 three shot group off the ground with a bipod at 100. This was with semi-progressivly loaded ammo. I deprime and prime on a single stage press then load on L-n-L AP with redding FL Type S bushing dies. I will powder drop with a hand weighed charge and funnel.

However, not enough A-maxes or H4350 in the world this summer so I have to mess around with a different bullet and powder. I do not weight sort bullets. From the 500 I bought they all look good to me with no visable rejects and the price is hard to beat. I will post my results once I finally get to go and send them down range.

I have been shooting these out to 600 yards for 5 months with excellent results for a stock Rem. 700
VLS varmint 243. Whidden says that by using the pointer, the bullet will shoot flatter by 3/4" to 1" MOA at 1000 yards. I'm on the fence as to the $300 cost of the pointer die and the $65.00 for the meplat trimmer. I suppose if I were shooting competitively I would jump in.
