pointing 200-20x

Anyone pointing 200-20x? Thinking about pointing them to get the BC back up in a 11 twist barrel. If so what are you using?

Whidden pointing die, insert #1. Last time I checked, Whidden did not have this bullet listed on their insert guide, but its design is close to putting the 215 Hybrid nose and boattail on the 200 Hybrid bearing surface. Whidden lists insert #1 for the 215 Hybrid, so that's what I've been using and it works very well. I'm also spinning the 200.20Xs out of an 11-twist barrel. It works fine, but from side-by-side comparison with shooters using a 10-twist barrel at approximately the same velocity, the 11-twist still seems to be giving up a small amount of BC, even with pointed bullets. It's still much better than 185 Juggernauts in terms of wind resistance.

I tried these bullets in an 11 twist TRG and had disappointing groups compared to the 185 Juggs. Can't recall the speed at this moment . 26" factory tube, shoots most bullets well, really likes the 155 Scenars.

In my hands, both the 185 Hybrids and 200.20Xs seem to like less jump than the Juggernauts; typically somewhere around .009" - .012" off the lands, as opposed to the .015" to .025" off the lands for the Jugs. If you haven't already tried in that range, it might be worth revisiting the seating depth and see if they work any better for you. I'm running the 200.20X at about 2660 fps with H4895 from a 30" barrel. Even so, the 11-twist barrel probably isn't getting the "full" theoretically possible BC. I'd imagine you're getting somewhat less than 2660 fps with your 26 barrel, which may exacerbate the [relatively] slow twist rate issue even further. If I had to do t again, I'd simply go with a 10-twist and call it a day. However, I had two 11-twist barrels spun up for that rifle right about the time the 200.20Xs became available, so I thought I'd try it, even though the twist was not optimal. So far it seems to be working ok.

@avidflyer
For myself, it has to be tested in my own barrels and from my own reloading process'.
See it go both ways, and what works with one bullet has not necessarily held true with other bullets.
And what works for one person and there scenario's doesn't make it factual to my own scenario's.
My advise is to test it for yourself to find if there are gains that meet your own demands.
Good Luck
