PO Ackley Books

Just had the score of the century , both Vols of PO Ackley hard cover 1966 editions. BUT the spines are worn and a bit tatty. Would having the spines re done be considered sacrilege.

Mike.

I kick myself in the as* several times every now and then. About 20-25 years ago I saw both books at a yard sale for $10!! The lady wouldn't go down to $8 and I walked away!!!

Bob , I lucked out ! I was in a gun store looking at some barrels and talking to the owner. I mentioned I had a .220 AI, this guy was standing nearby and overheard us talking said he had both copies of Ackleys books and I could have them for $20.00 Australian dollars , thats $14.80 USD on todays exchange rate. I have been after them for years but wanted hard covers not paperbacks which incidentally are going for crazy prices on the net.
I did a search last night an could not find any hard cover copies for sale, so my guess is they could be worth substantial dollars depending on overall condition.
Bob do you know if the 1st Edition Hard backs had dust jackets ?

regards
Mike.

I have a copy of the "Handbook for Shooters and Reloaders" copyrighted 1962 Black Hard copy I believe that it predates the 2 volume set. It is black and in good shape! It has 17 pages in the back of questions and answers! I still reference it sometimes for ai. cartridges. I think it predates the two volum set by about 4 years. I don't know what is worth? maybe some one on here would know. RW

Books are worth the price a buyer is willing to pay. I purchased the 2 volume PO Ackley set (hardcover, in mint condition) for $32.00 + $4.00 shipping.

JRS , that was indeed a very good find.
The Vol 1 I have is in fact a 3rd printing 1965, the Vol 2 is 1st Edition 1966.

Grabbed this one a couple months ago for $20. Appears to be from the late 1950's.
