i bet that is still the same.
30 years ago I was using a Fujikura fusion splicer for fiber splicing jobs in New Mexico. We would cleave the ends of the fibers, insert them in the fusion splicer which would inject light fiber checking for a good cleave, align the fiber ends, set air space between the and then fuse them. Seconds later the fusion splicer would inject light through a 90 degree bend in the fiber and read the loss through the fused splice. Can you believe we dont have to melt connectors and polish the ends on fiber anymore? I was floored to see the new ways corning and 3m have devised
I have used both a bunch. If youre starting from scratch on a die its better to get the whidden. If you already have a die or want to use it on multiple dies the pma unit is very niceHave any of you gents had any experience with both the PMA units and the Whidden Universal Click Adjustable Lock Ring? Impressions of both?
Its a very expensive kit but it sure beats the heaters, cleaving and polishing hoping you got a good endI've used that same Unicam kit. It's as easy as the video. While I don't do terminations in my day to day activities, I did sit in on the training day we had for it.
