just bought some new lapua palma brass checking it out to prep it all the flash holes are .059 is it suppose to stay like that or open it up to .062 any help will be appreciated thanks bill

Yes, it's sad but true. I ream the flash holes to .062" with a uniforming tool from Sinclair. If not they pull the decapping pin out every other sizing. Other than that I obtain lower SDs from the Palma brass (roughly 6 fps vs. 10-12 for Lapua standard .308 brass). Worth the trouble for me.

They are actually 1.5mm. If you want to open them to 1/16" or .0625" with a twist drill or chucking reamer, that would ensure uniformity. I don't have problems with small decapping pins either way.

It's easier to chuck up the decapping pin in a drill and sand it down with sand paper than to ream every single case.

I was wondering about accuracy. Has anyone seen better accuracy with smaller flash holes or are the larger ones more efficient with the larger case?

thank you gentlemen your help was greatly appreciated thanks bill
