.223 Lapua flash holes

Just opened a new box of brass and discovered that the flash holes appear to be .080. The IMG brass that I bought has the .062 flash hole. Is this standard for Lapua or is this brass drilled wrong? Thanks for your help. Bill

The IMG brass is undersized. I ordered some undersized decapping pins from Redding for my die. I believe it was someone on this website mentioned it so when I ordered the brass I went ahead and ordered the pins.

Prime them with a good primer,205m or br4 ) and enjoy. You will not find any thing better and will will get a long reload life out f these cases:D

Just curious - I had the IMG brass recommended to me because of the smaller flash hole, but have not tried it. Once you fire some of the Laupa - would like to know your opinion on accuracy difference, if any, between the two flash hole sizes.

I am thinking that over all the Laupa brass would last longer, but if the IMG has a better consistant accuracy, I don't mind throwing them in the trash after a few re-loads.

Bill, I was under the impression that Lapua flash holes were punched, not drilled? I have heard that Norma drills their brand tho. Could someone please clarify, just curious.

Thanks 308loudenboomer. That is what I thought. Thanks, Bill

Coyotevision, I was told the small flash hole would be more consist and more accurate also. I purchased the IMG and have shot about 50 pcs. The brass is pretty good and I have shot some really good groups considering I am shooting an AR-15, but I am finding that the primer pocket depth is very inconsistent. Some are so bad that the primer pocket uniformer will not contact the bottom of the pocket at all. That is why I wanted to try the Lapua. Will post results after firing the Lapua. Thanks, Bill

Gman, I believe that Lapua flash holes are drilled and not punched but I may be wrong too. I am finding only a small amount of burrs inside the Lapua flash holes and I am using a K & M uniformer to deburr them. Will keep you posted. Thanks, Bill
