Please Help me Customize my AR-15

I'm a huge fan of the Sierra Precision Grip. Fits the hand perfectly and seems to let me control aiming better. All my ARs and Chassis rifles have them. Only downside is your left-handed friends will glare at you if they try to borrow your rifle!

I’ll add to the “Don’t waste your money!” I have a couple cheap ARs. I have a couple nice ARs. I wouldn’t put a penny into trying to make a cheap AR into a nice AR. Save your money so you can buy a Rock River. They make a great gun. Larue and HK are really nice but too expensive for my needs.

i dont consider 900 bucks for a gun, "cheap"...as long as i can hit a target from a decent range, and the gun lasts me a while, im good with it...i dont want to put expensive parts on my "cheap" gun...i want the best part FOR the cheapest price...

Yes, This one would be a lot better than the Firefield I mentioned. I had one of these for about an hour. I bought it by mistake, intending to buy the fist focal plane 1-8. It seemed like a good scope but I took it back and got the FFP one I had wanted. In retrospect I wish I would have kept this SFP one. I'm not a big fan of the FFP 1-8. It is a great scope but at 1X the reticle nearly disappears.

So I wanted to use my AR as one of the squeak shooting guns in my arsenal, and I had a spare Vortex Viper 6.5-20 laying around with no job. I mounted it up, and it does well. Rifle is a cheap, but shoots good (sub MOA) with my reloads, and I blew up lots of squirrels with it this year.


Squirrel season ended, and I got to thinking that this big honkin, and fairly heavy scope was ridiculous on the AR. So I ordered an inexpensive Chianeze 3x9 which is about half the size and weight, and slapped it on. Went out to sight it in, and HOLY CRAP!! The bullseye is so tiny. I looked like my target was a mile away.
I guess there's a problem going backwards in power after getting used to 20x.

As far as your front sight being a problem with a scope -- you're gonna see it, but it shouldn't be much of a problem. jd

I guess you're not shooting "nose to charging handle" with that setup?

I just wanted a "cheap" rifle to coyote hunt with. So much for cheap. Should have added a couple of hundred more and just bought a RRA. I'll never get my money back if I try to sell it. Luckily it was only a little here and there but it all adds up. Scope is a Cabelas 1x8. Nice enough.

Ha! My adopted son took my Colt! Actually traded back an AR10 I gave him because it was expensive to feed. When I went to my local gun shop to replace it, they had a lot of Rock Rivers and no Colts. I looked bummed so they gave me 20% off on the $1200 Rock River. It’s the first one I’ve owned but it’s proven itself as a great shooter with nary a hiccup.

If you're talking about the flipped cantilever mount, I did that so my brass catcher would fit up front. With the military stock there is enough eye relief, but it's kind of tight. jd
