I use the MTM model RS-S-50-10. 6BR and 6PPC along with the varients fit perfectly. I use some foam at the top to take up any slack. Lots of different colors. I have them color coded to certain guns so I don't confuse ammo. Sinclair has some new colors including a green/black combo.

MTM cases are now hinged better. They actually use a hinge instead of the flexible plastic. I've broke the flexible plastic style in really cold weather before. I think that is why a lot of people favor some of the other brands. I would say that problem is now fixed.

MTM J-20 Series, Medium Rifle, 22-250,219 Zip, 243, 6ppc. Prefer the slip top. Hinged lid is always in the way, especially when trying to get the rounds out from the back row, near the hinge. Keep a strip of masking tape over the box opening to keep them from spilling out. Have a few of the new blue box Lapua plastic boxes. Don't like them: too big & bulky to be holding only 50 loaded rounds.

A plain old Romex wire staple from Home Depot slipped into one of the cells in the last row and into the lid will hold the lid completely open on the Midway 512 box. Small enough it can go into a cell with a cartridge in it.

Good idea Dave.........

Actually when I need to use a 50 rd. box, this is the way I keep the hinged lid wide open. Small wood dowell cut to the length of the box. Fits between the rows when not in use.

Dave: You are absolutely correct. I was very impressed when I first read the posting about the wire clips. Made a few with piano wire & no matter what I tried, they kept popping out. A real pain in the a**. That's when I went to the simple 3/16" wooden dowels. Have never had one pop out yet, and I must really be lucky 'cause I've never had a lid break loose at the "hinge", yet.

As far as the J&J boxes are concerned they have two problems in my opinion: The plastic gets brittle and they crack. The top on the 100 round box flexes enough that if you drop it the fired cases get out of their cells.

1. Keep them stored in a controlled environment, like a drawer inside a home, and they won't get brittle. I've had some for years, and the plastic is still as soft as the day I bought them.

2. Don't drop them. :)

I like the plano boxes with the hinged lid that lays completely down. Unfortunately they are sized for the .308 but still work acceptably for the 6BR.

The new MTM boxes have hinges that lay all the way down. I still have a bunch of the old style, so will try the dowl.
