I am NOT shunning nor am I disregarding anything. Dave Thanks for the link.riverwolf1 said:Why is it when someone asks for advice, they shun it or want to disregard it?
The answer is easy. The OP is looking for someone that has had first hand experience and actually know the answer to his question. Any response to the question that used the words: I believe, possible or maybe should be disregarded. It is the OP's prerogative to filter out the BS and try to get at the facts. Later! You dang well better be concerned about state law since if you take that pistol into a state that does not allow it, you are putting your relative in jeapordy! You received some great advice and if you think it's wrong spend some time on the phone with the AG's office, of the state where the pistol is going.

I wouldn't care how good of friend or relative is, if I sell or give someone a gun and they don't want to go thru the backround check, they won't get a gun of mine, cause I would feel they they are hiding something and if you can't pass a backround check...You're not to have the gun in the first place!
If both parties are from different states, the law is very clear, it must be shipped from an FFL to a FFL in the other state, which should (by law) be followed by the backround check conducted by the FFL in the receiving state. Gifted or purchased.
