Pistol Aerobics!

 Nick.......they’re take home doggy boxes from our favorite restaurant. I wash them out and recycle them. For bulk bullets, I buy Tupperware. You probably got yours from a restaurant supply house.
Hoz: I left my “new” Pro 2000 bolted to my desk in Texas, along with 2k LPPrimers, 1500+/- 45 cases and bullets. I thought I left a thousand loaded rounds here but my memory was bad. I only have 400 here, soo........

I got up early and belled the cases over coffee. Did some chores, then primed them before lunch. Ran my wife’s errands, then started loading before dinner. I managed to load 250 rounds before the bell rang.
You’re right Boss! It’s about the easiest cartridge to reload! I like 44Magnum too.
My Safety routine is simple. I keep my cases in the plastic box. Pick one up, charge it, then put it in the tray. Fill the tray, do a quick flashlight assisted case check and press in the bullets. This greatly reduces the risk of a double charge.
i loaded thousands of rounds of pistol single stage and I always threw charges in all the cases in the tray then looked them over with a flashlight. Never had a problem unlike the progressives I’ve had.

44 Mag is such a great round. One of my all time favorites. So inherently accurate and forgiving with tons of power. Nothing to complain about.

In auto loaders, 10mm Auto is definitely my favorite because of the power-to-mag capacity ratio. It’s bacically at the power level of the 41 Magnum yet you get the magazine capacity of a 40 S&W. Nice being able to have 15 rounds in the double stack mag of my Glock 20 using a round that is significantly more powerful than both the 40 S&W and 45 acp. Even in my 1911 I get 9 rounds of 10mm auto in the single stack mag due to the smaller case diameter.
Ive got lots of 200gr 452 bullets to use up but as you know loading a 44 Mag with a light load costs the same as loading a 45 acp or very close. Prob wont buy/cast anymore 45 caliber bullets.

I’ve never tried cast bullets. Almost talked myself into trying them a few times because they were so much cheaper, but never did.

In the past I never had much luck with accuracy in pistols. Of course I’m no expert handgun shooter by any means either. But ever since I started shooting the XTP bullets in various rounds, I seem to do good. Not sure why that is but they just seem to shoot really well for me across the board. I use the 155gr XTP in 40 S&W, the 180gr XTP in 10mm, and 300gr XTP in 44 Mag.

Thats interesting - ill look into them.

I finished my meager pile of 450 rounds. Thanks Riflewoman for setting a high bar!! I have to ask: Are you married? You’re the girl I dream about!;)

I'm fixing to crank out some 9 and .45. With my set up I resize, seat and crimp fairly quick it's just charging with powder that slows me down, that and a bad shoulder but it's a little work out when I'm cranking on the RC

New Brass? What did you load those on?
Single stage. These were SPP I purchased a couple of years ago as brass for “range ammo” where I didn’t care if I got the brass back (indoor range). They sat unused after case prep; size then bell. I primed them this winter, now they’re loaded. These are for practice and training.

Interesting given your user name...

About all I load in pistol is cast lead (or in the case of 38Spl and 32SWL, swaged lead) bullets. The lube can be a mess but the cost savings makes it tolerable.

I recently bought some 32 HBWC from a California outfit that uses some kind of moly lube rather than a wax based type. Haven't shot many yet (just a proof of function), but if they do well, this outfit may become my go-to for handgun bullets across the board.

These were Bear Creek Swaged 45-185 HBSWC fired from a S&W 25-2 45 ACP revolver. Iron sights at 25 yards. They shoot reasonably well.

Might have to change my name to “LeddCoreSlinger”. Lol

cast or coated lead is the only way I can afford high volume shooting in my wheel guns or my 1911s, back in the day I cast my own now I buy bullets in bulk. bouncing a tin can or informal target shooting doesn't require a xtp or jacketed bullet, your tastes may very

Hornady makes the HAP line of bullets too. It’s the XTP design without serrations on the hollow point for rapid expansion. Way cheaper price point but supposed to deliver the same accuracy. I might try some of them for volume shooting as long as they shoot the same.

Problem with lead cast bullets is that I can’t run them at the high pressures I normally use in my 10mm autos and 44 mag with the XTP. If the load with a lead bullet doesn’t shoot the same as what I will be using for bear defense in the woods then I see no reason to even try it. Much rather practice with what I will actually be using in a life or death situation

thanks for that info
