Maverick Motel in the Day all the Bid Time Hunters stayed there.

Cody already lots of good posts above There was a Famous Saddle Shop close to Winchester Museum ?
All the great Move Cowboys had Saddles Made , Slim Pickens , John Wayne and on and on ..

If you hit Sheridan? Buffalo Bills Train Station ? Kings Saddle Shop , in the back room Great Collection of 7th Calvary era Saddlery .
Best Western was the Place to eat.

To the contrary of several here, I would definitely go to Jackson. Drive Lander on up through Dubois and down through the grand Tetons. Absolutely stunning as you come over the mountains and wind your way down to the valley with the Tetons out in front of you. They are the most beautiful mountains in the US. I was not impressed with Yellowstone and do not recommend it. Drive through Jackson, maybe grab a meal, and continue on to Pinedale.

I agree about the beauty of the Teton’s. It’s to bad the super tourist’s have made lodging and food cost 10 times more than what it was just 20 years ago.

Disagree about Yellowstone. I've been there twice and will go again. Too much history/geology/wildlife/wilderness to miss.

I know my opinion is unpopular, but I've been all over Colorado and the wind river. There is nothing particularly exciting or extraordinary about Yellowstone: just A LOT of people.

Edit: I should clarify more. Yellowstone is a great place for folks to drive around slowly and look at wildlife and forest and geysers. If you are in good enough health to hike 5 or more miles in the mountains, then you can see far more majestic sights, more interesting geography, all the same wildlife, and do it in relative or complete solitude elsewhere in the Rockies.
