I just received my Boyds Featherweight thumb hole stock for my Savage mdl 16 and have a couple questions about installing pillars. There isn't much room to add anything substantial in the stock so this is what I'm thinking.
I have some 3/8" ss tube that I can cut and epoxy in the stock for pillars then epoxy bed the action. About all the tube is going to do is keep from crushing the laminated wood between the bottom metal and the action. I know the action screws shouldn't be tight enough to do this but I'm just thinking worse case scenario.
Will it be worth the trouble? Should I just epoxy bed it and move on? This a hunting rifle, I just want to make sure I have a solid foundation for the action.
Thanks.
