Pillar bedding a Savage MK II

Did a forum search and only came up with 1 result from a couple of years ago.

Has anyone tried pillar bedding a Savage MK II in a factory laminated stock?

To be clear, this is a rimfire action. Not a centerfire action.

I understand the issue with the 'bottom metal' and have a plan for that.

Thinking of installing pillars as a first step, working with a beefed-up bottom metal piece.

Then enlarging the recoil 'button' area and bedding the action side areas and 'button' area as a second step.

Thoughts?

I just bedded a MK2 and did some research about this subject and your plan would have been my plan. The factory inlet is definitely quite large and the first step would be to put some material back

I decided to skip the pillars, didn't seem necessary for my application.

I like the idea of pillars simply for the ridgity.
