Pilar Bedding Question

I have an Rem 700 ADL Synthetic, chambered in 300 Win Mag that I hunt and shoot with. I was wondering if it is possible or even worth pillar bedding it.

-Thanks
Matt

For not too much more than you would spend on the bed job you can get a Hogue overmolded stock that is already pillar bed for around $100.00 from Midway and it is a much better stock than the Rem. factory job. I went with the H-S precision full aluminum bed stock myself and have never regretted it a moment.

While it would be possible, it's not going to help out much.
The HS stocks with the Aluminum bedding block are helped a lot with bedding them over again... One size will never ever fit all the differences in actions even from the same makers...

How much edge does a bedding block really give you? Is it worth the money? I've read that they could cut groups almost in half, but I kinda believe that if something sounds to good to be true.......

You could very well cut your groups in half,IF) you bed those stocks with a bedding block with a true to your action bedding job, other wise it's not apt to happen.....

May-be I got lucky of something but all I did was drop my rifle into the H&S Precision full bed stock and it shot a mite better than it did when it was in a glass bedded Bell & Carlson. It shot good to start with. It is a Rem. 700 action with a Shilen #6 SS 26 inch barrel in 25-06 that is set up to bean field hunt deer. If I do my part it will keep 5 shots under 1 inch at 300 yards with 117 gr. Sierra prohunters with my hunting scope on it, a Zeiss 3-12X56 with the big old # 8 reticle. Anyway, most any of the after market stocks with a full bed or pillar bedding will beat the heck out of those flimsy Remington factory plastic stocks. Even just a plain old Bell & Carlson without even glass bedding will beat the factory Remington stock most of the time.
