3 heay coats of clear, over bicycle decal this a.m.

Stays on this rock,it's our 27 yd line for bows. Piece of steel had been out there for years, rusting. Shot it a week ago with catalyzed enamel, barely wiping the thing off... stuff wears like iron as a single stage, clearing it is just fun.

Howdy,

Just joined and am poking my head down a few rabbit holes and learning already. Recently purchased a well cared-for, bone stock 40X in 7.62 NATO that I happened upon. Getting back in the game after years away. Mostly to push myself again. I'll post a photo of the rifle over in the other thread in a bit. Need to make a decent one first.

But this thread seemed as good a place as any to introduce myself. There's some nice images in here. Spent years as a corporate and architectural photographer with a fine art print business specializing in landscapes. Which was good training for my photography during our travels these days. I found that all that breathing control I worked on in high school and college while shooting 3-position competitions was quite helpful when hand-holding long lenses back in the day.

Anyway, a few more recent images. And thanks for looking.

Well at the lake last week, sitting on the deck enjoying a glass of Bourbon, I was sudenly suprised by some action over the lake, I thought wow, 2 Bald Eagles at the same time. They were about 12 0'clock in the sky with the sun about 2 o'clock. Diving and turning and dropping and elevating putting on a show that would rival the blue angles!

So don't be to hard on me, they are not perfect being the sun is backlighting the thin clouds with horrendous lighting conditions. But I, seeing nothing but black silhouettes in front of this bright background, grabbed the 1d MKIV setting on the deck table with the the 300mm F2.8L and a 1.4 ext. on it and quickly ran the exposer compensation to 3 full stops over the meter, and hand held as I had to if I wanted to catch the Eagles, not the sky! bobbing and weaving to get thru the limbs in front of me.

Well this was to surprise what I saw after grabbing about a dozen frames when they would clear the 2 large Oaks limbs over the back of the deck. Maybe 15 or 20 seconds and they chased away out of sight. These are heavy crops, and like I said taken 3 full stops over the meter, as far as I can go in hurry with the camera set on aperture priority. but imagine my surprise when I zoomed in and seen what was really happening,,,,,

A bald Eagle in pursuit of an Osprey (superior fishing falcon to the Eagle) and trying to steal the fish the Osprey had caught! This why I love this desolate wildlife area that is berried deep in the marsh of three private lakes, no access, commercial or public. Truly Gods Country where I go to get my head right,,,,,,,, which doesn't seem to work, but lets me enjoy these moments non stop.

We watched that exact ballet play out on an Okefenokee Swamp boat tour in January. Amazing - and I think our falcon won, as well. Not a shot came out, even with OIS, as the boat and I were moving as well.
