Phase 1

This sounds like another great project!
You have your lathe all setup for spinning up barrels now?
I’ll try and stay in the loop!
Great work!
No, I did'nt bother. Ronnie wants to replace it with one
having a longer bed, but having room is the problem.
Beside's, you don't mind taking my money......LOL

You Busy ?? I'll get in touch with you in a few days.
We are looking at 2 barrel jobs.

What size is your lathe?
I’m getting another one, 1440
Always nice to have 2 setups at the same time.

I’m not busy right now and
I don’t mind taking anyone’s money!

Get a hold of me whenever is good for you.
Talk to you soon

After I shorten the die, I hone it slightly to bring back the base
dimension. Finish size on this case is .499. Short stepping
with a SAMMI reamer now gives me a good fitting chamber.

Danny Biggs was kind enough to sell me his short throated
reamer so I can move the time line up on this project. Barrel
though is still 2 months out on the order from Brux. The salvage
Bartlien I'll be using as a mule fire forming barrel is 2 weeks out
on the lathe schedule. Until I get the chamber reamed then a
casting, I can't do much more.
Any update on the project? So you plan to use it for short range benchrest?

I have a similar project underway. I call it 6mm-284 Benchrest. Name doesn't ring for you, but we're chasing the same goal. It's a 284 Win shortened to benchrest proportions for 1k shooting. Goal is more speed with Dasher/BRX/BRA accuracy. The extra speed should help in the wind. Not your goal in shortrange obviously?

Actually, an all purpose cartridge I am shooting an testing. Being a 7mm,
bullets are not to found however, 7mm 110gr TNT's shoot quite well in the
fire forming barrel, and one of the guys on the site sent me some Berger
140gr VLD-H's. I just pushed them to 2790 with a 2" group at 300 using
Lovex-Precision Rifle powder. Ton's of promise. Will spec out a barrel in
the near future. For the time being, that short and worn out Bartlein will
do for forming case's and some powder work ups. I have no interest in
a 6mm, but if I were to neck my case down, and at the same length as a
6GT, It would smoke it if the bullets held together. Probably more geared
for speed steel or the PRS crowd, but nothing to say I won't find a load
or two for that close in work. I actually like testing during a match, like
Anderson Creek's UBR matches. Components are killing me currently.
I shot the last match with my SA284 since I had loaded rounds and no
more primers for the 284-ELF. Phase 2 will probably start once components
get back online, and I doubt that it will happen any time soon.
