Peterson Brass 30BR

I shoot NBRSA Varmint for Score. Quite a bit of it.

I try to keep the Rifle shooting at a .200 or better agg level.

If I was shooting UBR, I would probably shoot a 6PPC, since I am now making my own 68 grn 6mm bullets.

I talked to as many Score Shooters in the Gulf Coast Region as possible during the Winter, and nobody was interested in shooting the UBR Format.
Jackie great to hear from you! I'm in agreement with what you say. I think the 6PPC does better in UBR, but I don't like that bore wearing out in a couple of thousand rounds! Also that 30 cal. bullet seems to do much better in the wind. I'm having great success with some custom made bullets in the 30 cal. . I like your idea of making your own 68 grain 6mm's. Are they boat tails? Who made your dies? I've long liked the Detsch 7/9 ogive, boat tail, that Hottenstein makes. What's your take on it?

WELL, HERE GOES, SO, I HAD TALKED TO ZACK AT PETERSON ON MONDAY, I RECIEVED THE REPLACEMENT BRASS ON WEDNESDAY! A1 CUSTOMER SUPPORT! I WAS ABLE TO FINISH EXPANDING & PREPPING MY 6BR BRASS TO 30BR YESTERDAY, ZACK ALSO SENT 15 PCS OF 7BR BRASS TO TRY, TO SEE IF IT WORKED BETTER FOR ME, WOW, A HUGE DIFFERENCE! THE 7BR BRASS CAME POLISHED WITH NO ANNEALING RESIDUE AT ALL, DONT KNOW IF THIS IS NORMALLY HOW IT COMES? BUT IT EXPANDED GREAT WITH 1 PASS, STRAIGHT NECKS & THE LENGTH WAS SPOT ON AFTER EXPANDING, ALL 15 CASES WERE 1.500 - 1.499 IN LENGTH! NO TRIMMING NEEDED! THINK ILL BE USING THE 7BR BRASS FROM NOW ON! THE STRAIGHT NECKS TURN DOWN SOOOO MUCH NICER!

Thanks for the report, especially appreciate the OAL of the cases. Those cases would be on the short side in my chamber. My prepped Lapua brass at zero firings comes in at 1.518 to 1.520. My not to exceed trim length dimension is 1.528.

1.520" is what my trim length is with the particular lot of brass I'm using. I did measure chamber and was really surprised that it measures 1.542. The reason I measured the chamber in the first place was because I purchased a Teslong scope and noticed how big of a gap I had between brass and end of chamber...I look and measure all my chambers now my be are not be what print says...

Gentleman , its Tim at Peterson and we are curious if shooters would want us to make 30BR brass and eliminate some of the steps in the process of making it ? All feedback would be appreciated ! Thanks in advance.
It’s 2023 and time to resurrect. Still interested in seeing commercial 30BR brass.

Now where is that dead horse whipping gif?

What ever happened to this idea. I don't know exactly how the market is. But It does seem to be a good idea, especially since there would possibly be a small monopoly to had for a while. I guess it's supply and demand, and war times.
I was looking into 7br, and came across this thread on a Google search.
Yeah, if 30br, and ppc brass was more available,it would sell.

At the quality level of the Peterson cases, you could afford to buy "limited bulk".

The blue stuff from "over there" is excellent. My opinion is that Peterson is producing its equal, and taking care of the product and consumer even better. (and that's a tall order)

Not sure which would sell best but score shooters, mainly go pre-loaded, which requires more ammo. Lots of them I know take 200 for a 2 yardage grand agg match, basically every month. Group guys/gals, often load the same say, 50 pieces or less over and over but the brass doesn't last nearly as long, speaking generally here, and there are generally fewer matches. The raw number of each discipline are close but probably slightly slanted toward more score shooters. Just my thoughts but glad to hear a company is entertaining catering to benchrest shooters of both group and score. I'd lean toward score shooters(30br) buying more brass but IDK. Kudos either way!

I contacted Peterson a few months ago and asked if they had plans to make anything on a PPC casehead (ARC, Grendel, PPC) and gave them my feedback that I have their 6BR and 6.5x47 and love it and would definitely buy a quantity of PPC brass. They said they have no plans to make it, which is a bummer.

I am near end stage on a 6BR barrel I use in VFS matches. I would gladly re-barrel in 30 BR if Peterson starts making it. If not I will stick with 6BR. I love their 6BR brass.
