Peterson 280AI brass

Are you still thinking about playing around with the 7 PRC?

It’s been wildcatted off the 375 Ruger case in the past but never been tested with good brass as far as I know. Now with ADG making PRC brass, I think the 7 PRC could be a hell of a fast and efficient round but probably easier on barrels than a 28 NOS
I have the reamers. I was really torn on the 7 or 30 for my next project. I have a lot more 30 cal bullets so I decided on a 300 PRC for the Vampire action

I started with Peterson 280 ai brass. It has a 40 degree shoulder. Its new brass not shot in my chamber so I am fireforming, but Im not moving the brass much.
did not know you had to fire form AI brass to AI chamber but I figure you want it molded for your chamber. do they have a standard for the 280 AI chamber?

Totally understandable. I have a 28 Nosler barrel for a rifle but have never fired it. Plan on selling it eventually because I’m already heavily vested with rifles in 30 cal, 338 cal, 6.5mm, 6mm, and 20 cal. Don’t need or want another pile of bullets for a different bore sitting on the shelf. I barely have time to shoot all the rifles I already have.

Great to hear all this brass from Peterson and ADG is working well . I’ve got some AI coming as well .... can’t wait to give it a whirl

If your busy with calibers other than 7mm, you could always send me the barrels, and i'll continue the research for you. ;)

Not really. I still have ammo loaded in nosler cases. The tune was 2980-3000 fps and .020 in the lands with a 168 vld. I am sure the Peterson brass will end up close to that its just down my list of stuff to work on.

Alex, in general, is Peterson brass as good as Lapua? better? Thank u sir.

I am running Lapua 30/06 brass in the AI, neck turned of course. I just clean the neck out in the chamber with a brush, no big deal with the slightly shorter neck. I fire form with 15g of bullseye and cream of wheat. ON formed brass, get very small over lapping bullets in a clover leaf group or smaller with the 175g Nosler long range with a max load of IMR 7828 with a federal 210(very important for best group).

I started all of this Lapua brass project before the Peterson brass came out, and fire formed a couple of hundred rounds in A fire form barrel. So, for a hunting rifle, I am done for now.

We are very, very impressed with the 175g Nosler long range accubonds in how they just pole ax deer, from any angle, any bones encountered. 450 yards is a very long shot where I hunt, and these 175's are putting deer on the ground real fast.

If I were starting from Scratch, I would go Peterson and never look back as going the Lapua brass route is a lot of work.

I am a bit late to this party, but my experience with Peterson brass has left me scratching my head and moving on. I bought 150 pieces for my 280AI. and fired all of it with medium weight charges to fit my chamber. After doing that I could never get the accuracy I felt the cartridge is capable of. Also, my ES and SD were all over the map, very high. I annealed it twice, then through the same process as for my .308 LR gun. Still no accuracy and numbers very high. I weight sorted it and lost 30 cases, still no joy. I have changed powders, primers and bullets, still no consistency. I do not claim or pretend to be anywhere near as good as you fellas, but I don't have those issues with other components. I am glad some of you are getting good results. I gave up on it and moved on.

Any chance you would sell this inferior brass to me?
