pet loads for a .300RUM

Tipped TSX bullets are the real deal on top of Retumbo and Fed. 215's. Those are the most popular ingredients, you'll have to develop your own charge wt. I've worked with 4 rifles in this caliber and I find there to be alot of variance in appetite' between rifles. The Barnes web-site lists a range from 84 gr. to 93 gr. of Retumbo, I felt that this was on the light side but then again I don't have a pressure barrel.

thanks for the help. I was on hodgens website and you can see what they suggest for charges. they dont list the barnes in 180gr but it should be close with the bullet they have down and the barnes x bullet is what im using.

thx doug

Doug,
Be very careful using any other manufacturers data with a Barnes bullet. The copper bullets create much more pressure than a run of the mill gilded metal bullet.

I have (2) 300RUM's. Both are factory rifles. I am running 93 to 95 grains of Retumbo with the 180gr. MRX using Nosler brass getting around 3100fps. I shot last night in 90 degree heat, and had no pressure signs. 1/2" groups (when you don't close your eyes before the trigger breaks) and only 11MOA needed for 600 yards. Barnes manual lists 84 to 93 gr. of Retumbo. Be very careful as you WORK UP to the max charge. Thats a big round....

I have gone hotter, but I really never saw the point of the added powder and pressure to gain a few fps.

I'm loading 180gr XLC over 86.0 gr of 7828. This load shoots the prettiest little dime size 3 shot groups at 100 yards out of my stainless Remington 700.
