perplexed over 6br load

I just finally got my new Savage model 12 benchrest after 8 months of hell. Mine wouldnt eject a live round and was sent back 3 times before i had to contact a person at the top of the food chain. They tried everything from the bolt, bolt face, new barrel, polishing inside the receiver, and a new stock??? After all of this they sent me a new gun and a cheap bushnell scope for customer satisfaction.

my f class savage did the same thing until I backed bullet out 10 or 20 thousands off lands and sometimes i have to full size my cases after two loading are it is hard to get bolt to move

I did a ladder this morning with the bullet .010 off the lands. I started at 27 and went up 1/2gr at a time. The bolt started to tighten up at 28.5. At 29 the primer went flat and the bolt was way too stiff. I didn't shoot the 30gr load. Powder was Varget. I'm really not concerned about being a grain and a half short of others if the thing shoots centre. I just don't understand what is going on inside the barrel causing the difference.

hepburn, I had a similar issue with my 6.5x47Lapua. I cannot shoot the loads recommended!

Flat crated primers, sticky bolt. Almost blew my gun up! Always start low.

I purchased a chronograph and found the speed I was looking for! I am almost 2grns lower than everyone else!

I still don't have an answer, but my gun is very accurate!

PS: I use RL15 in my 6br with Lapua 105's .020 in the lands! Start low, then work up!

Did two 3shot group ladders this afternoon. One ladder was .010 of the lands, the other .020. I started a 27gr of Varget under a Sierra 107match. I went up 2tenths of a grain at a time. The bolt got stiff at 28 so I stopped there. The best groups were low in the ladders. At 27.6 the groups were well over an inch. At 27.2 they were within a quarter moa verticle an about three-eigths wide. Wind was across the range at 0- 15 mph. Don't need the extra speed I guess. I was shooting at 150yds
