Performing a ladder test at 200 meters ?

Been reading up on ladder tests, and the generall concensus is they should be performed >300 yards. Why is this ? Do you think I would not get an accurate node window at my LGC's 200 meter range ? Thanks in advance for your input !

I think a Chrono helps when you move in closer :) I would shoot three of each charge and watch for vertical and verify with the chronograph then go to seating depth..

While I am a huge fan of ladder tests and use them extensively, I do not find them to be effective under 300yds.
With that said, my advise if you are limited to 100/200 for a range, I suggest to group test, 3-shots to each increment, over wind flags with a chronograph. Find the charge zones from the groups and velocity data (primarily ES), then go after the seating, then come back to narrow the charge and for fine tuning.

In spite of what Donovan says, and I usually agree with him :o , I only do my ladder testing at 200 yards and have had very good luck finding a node with everything I have tried. It does help to have a chronograph set up too.
I will add that I can't figure out anything shooting a ladder test at 100 yards though, there are some that do.

I have an Alpha Chrono so I guess it would not hurt to see what I come up with at a distance of 200M. I think i'll give it a try. Thanks for the insight

James, that's because you test different then I do......
