I bought a new camera last year before I went PD shooting in KS. I got a Sony for about $300. It has a 60 optic and 300 digital zoom. It works very well out to about 275 maybe 300 with some pretty good detail. I only used the optical zoom as the digital zoom really distorts the picture.
