Parts gun 6BR

jumping in on your thread...parts guns
the receiver is lh 700 off my first 30br( i do not shoot left anymore.)P1000506.JPG P1000507.JPG
the stock was donated by a fellow shooter, and
the bbl was table prize from a shoot in montana.
26" finished length, 1/12, shoots about 1/2 with 58 vmax's
scope is an original redfield( of denver) 8-32 target.
gonna try some heavier bullets one day 75 vmax's i think

Still testing when time allows but there seems to be a pattern. It shoots it's smallest @ +.011 and 29.9 varget @ 2896 avg fps SD/ES 2/4 but it almost always puts 2 in 1 out and it's very flat vertically. I'm sure I could be tossing 1 out especially at 200 yards but the shots feel good.

This pic is at 200 with 2" target dots and is pretty representative of how it shoots.

Brass is unknown x fired. Using CCI 450 primers, 29.9 g varget & 105 Berger HVLD's

Try different primer?
Less powder? It shot a little smaller @ 30.3 but was starting to get a little bolt lift.
Find the slower node and see if it prints better?
Am I expecting too much as in is this as good as a 40 year old Savage with a used barrel and brass can be expected to shoot off of Caldwell bags?

This is about as good as I've ever shot consistently so I'm kind of in new territory here. Any suggestions/feedback appreciated. Thanks

what is the scope and its power ?
get away from the orange dots
try simple white paper with a dot or a cross.
probably very good off bags.
you need to spring for a good rest and rear bag to be
small consistently

6-24x50 vortex viper pst, I had to put the orange bulls up so I could see black crosses I started with.

ok but orange is tuff to stay focused/centered on..its in the lenses of the scopes.

next i mis-spoke, my 222 is an adl, the 23 is a savage 12 heavy bbl.
it has a 6-24 x50 viper hs on it.
back to length.
i was checking what would fit in the mag and where the lands are on this rifle.
(its new) the mag will handle 2.3,
ends up with a berger 55 seated to 2.260 i am just touching the lands !
max saami spec and at the lands on a factory rifle..no way!
so off to load a ladder and hopefully shoot at 300. i have 55,60 and 64's to try in this rifle.
my first bolt 223...lots of ar's, mostly target rifles.

I think I've settled on 29.6 and did a primer change as well, BR4s instead of the 450s.

I need to get out and test some more but it seemed to settle in to me.

200 yards.

First pic is a quick primer comparison 450's top BR4s bottom row
