Parker Hale 1200 Super in 300 Win Mag

Hi Guys.

I need to reload for my 300 Win Mag. I have done some research and it looks like it has a 1:11.5 twist.

Please let me know what type of bullets you use ?

The 150gr- 200gr will work just fine in this twist. Hunting or target shooting?

It will be mostly for hunting, as we do a lot of hunting . I was advised that i cause of the longer twist , i need lighter , shorter bullets.

I was planning to reload 165 gr bullets , but need some advise on what bullet i can use. I am looking for a premuim bullet that does the job , cause the 300 Win Mag will be used for Gemsbuck , Kudu , Bluewidebees ect , the bigger game species.

Do you perhaps know of a gun shop in the US that would ship bullets and brass to international clients?

I would look seriously at the 165 gr Barnes. Seriously tough enough for what you want to shoot. I shoot them out of 10 & 12 twist barrels with good accuracy. They are available as a TSX or TTSX, both will work super.

One of our advertisers, Powder Valley, would have the brass and bullets you are referencing. I can't say with certainty they are set up to ship to other countries. You might run a search or call them.

I would love to use the Barnes X bullets , but they are very expensive in SA. We usally pay $1.50 per bullet which makes it expensive to practice with. Thus my need for a US gun shop that will ship bullets to SA.

Hi Guys.

Does anyone on the Forum use the same 300 Win Mag , Parker Hale 1200 Super. I would like more info on the rifle and maybe some recommendations to bullet path with the 165 gr Barnes X TTSX.

What speed do you get and will it be accurate up to 350 m. We do a lot of hunting in the Kalahari and open plain , and up to now i used my 243 , but want to switch to my 300, cause the market that we shoot for doesn't worry about headshots and will be happy with game shot on the shoulders.

Any advise will be appreciated.
