Panda bolt face br/ppc question

I recently purchased a panda action rifle. It is a 6ppc. Can the bolt on those be opened to accommodate a 30br?

Kelbly's will do it for you. Cost is nominal.

Or just shoot a 30 Major.

I think someone recently posted on here that the fee to open the boltface was only $75 if I remember correctly. The guys at Kelblys are really easy to work with in my experience.

Simple enough job but you'll likely need to tune the ejector..mainly by lengthening the stroke a tad for reliable ejection. If it's not an ejector model, disregard.

But as mentioned, a 30 Major is just a 30 Grendel. Case capacity is right between a ppc and BR case. It shoots just as well as a BR and no bolt mods or rebating of rims. The Grendel shares a PPC bolt face. It's nothing more or less than a .070" long ppc. In this case, necked up from 6.5 to 30 cal. Lapua brass is excellent and available. It uses small primers and small flash holes.

They have opened 2 Pandas for me. Rblp left eject and a rblp right eject. Both work fine with either br cases or ppc and price is very reasonable.

They likely worked on the ejector as well. Every one I've seen needed just a tad bit of work to get them to eject reliably. Of course, ymmv. Not a big deal at all to do and Kelblys has done enough of them to know exactly what it needs.

Kelbly's can also modify your PPC bolt face to a 'combo' bolt face that works with both .308/PPCs. It requires a different extractor, also. I've had two of them that way...both work great. A nice way to go and very reasonable on pricing. An extra extractor at the same time is good insurance.

Al, Thank you for the input. We sure put a lot of energy into trying to get a small piece of metal to go very fast and land in the same place a few, or several hundred yards away.

Same as the Romans did with their catapults. Can you imagine a few engineers getting together over some fermented grapes and talking about how to get that bolder to fly just a little bit straighter and farther?

I had mine done as well. It will pull BR cases or PPC cases without issue. I haven't had single extraction failure over thousands of rounds. I'd never spend the money on a dedicated bolt.

I'm not really sure. Most 700's have a bushing inserted when the .473 gets modified for .445 case head use.

I'm guessing you got a complete bolt. What is being discussed for $75.00 is to use your bolt and open up a PPC bolt face.
