Panda action stud?

Link

Popped my stock off and there is a action stud that's about a inch back from the front. 1/4'' od and 1/2 long. Is it necessary to glue it in along with the action? There is a rear mounting screw. thanks Don

I prefer them that way but you'll get opinions both ways, so they both work.
Actually, my first choice is glued and screwed and to use the same setup as yours in the center screw hole, if yours has that hole.
A little detail on my reasoning is that I feel that vibration is better transmitted to the stock and away from the action with a "center lug." FWIW.
It's likely of very little value at all with a glue and screw setup, where the stock and action are unitized and can't really let go. At least I've never seen one that did. I can't say that about a glue only.

Some hall of fame shooters/gunsmiths do use a same or similar configuration to what yours is.

Take it out- its not necessary but to keep it straight. Its bedded now so its not needed if you tape your barrel to get the spacing right

I could have been more clear. There is the stud and the rear action screw only. I heated the action and it popped right out with no damage at all to the bed.
thanks people.

Like i said id take it out and just use the rear one. Put clay in the screw hole and glue away. Some of the gunsmiths use it for alignment- most take it out after the bedding before the glue in
