Pacific Tool and Gauge Custom shop remington 700

Good afternoon or morning depend on where you are at,

I was wanting to buy a custom shop remington 700 308 and wasn't sure if it any good. Just wondering if any one of you out there have any experience on this one. here is the link

I don't need a rail or or bottom plates. I just need the action trued and bolt along with the action and barrel. I know I will need to finish the chamber.

thank you all.

I bought 2.
one stainless fluted 220 Swift
One 223 10” barrel handgun
I have not yet received the 223
My gunsmith said the Swift has a custom barrel as he has never seen a Remington factory barrel that smooth

FYI
After you order, call Parkwest, the former Remington Custom Shop in Sturgis to ask them to finish the chamber before shipping it. They did mine free. Here's the number: 605-490-0705. You may have to leave a message.

I just pulled the barrel on the stainless 7mm mag I purchased and the threads are cut better than any other Remington action I own, the front of the action is faced off on a lathe and doesn't look like it was faced off with a chop saw, the lug recess are machined nice and shiny and the barrel fit was really tight with a little grease on the threads. It is not a factory barrel and I am going to rechamber it to 7mm/300WBY. I have a heavy barreled varmint rifle chambered in that so I have brass, bullets and dies.

Mike123red, go for it, you won't be dissappointed, I ordered 4 of the original barreled actions.

If you're ordering the barreled receiver from PT&G, how can you ask Parkwest to finish the chamber? Do you give them your order number from PT&G?

i got same as you. Barrel is a 26” Rem Varmint Taper. It pulled easy and looks good so while Im at it Im thinking of making it a 28 Nosler. Ive got enough 7RMs

Hoz, my friend ordered a varmit 7mm mag and I am going to rechamber it to 28 Nosler for him also.

i never liked the belt and always wanted a magnum 7mm without one. The 28 Nosler seems just what i had in mind. Should be a great rifle for the money.

Anyone dolling out participation prizes to fools still buying at PT&G , my last order of supposedly in-stock items took 11months !!!.No responses to e-mail, crap service, wouldn't recommend to anyone.

micmac, So far I have never had any problems with PTG products,. I have called and if they had the reamer in stock that I needed they even took a couple thousanths off the neck diameter for free before shipping it. The barreled actions I have received have great looking barrels that aren't factory and the action machining looks maticulous. I purchased 4 of them and have received 3 of them, just waiting on 1.

I have always liked the Remington 700. I ordered an action from them and received it in nine days.

I have a few others but this action that is advertised as from the custom shop is outstanding. Very smooth and tight. The machine work is done much better than my other 700's. I like it so much that I will order a second one tomorrow. If I could only get a barrel shipped this fast. You can see that it was squared, even the recoil lug.

I purchased one of these Remington Custom Shop barreled actions from PTG in 7mm Rem Mag. It’s got a 26” magnum sporter barrel and action/barrel are finished in black oxide. The action is stripped with no bolt and PTG says the chambers are likely unfinished. I’ve decided against the build I was going to do and am selling the barreled action for $300. I currently have it listed on another site, but if there’s interest I’m happy to post on this site also.

Only problem I have had is not being told that they shipped something faster than quoted so the guns sat in my FFL a few days before I realized it. They always reply to emails withing a day or two. Usually same day. They also always answer the phone and are quick to get you to whomever has the knowledge to give an intelligent answer.
