"Back in the day" (1997), when I wanted 1:18" twist thirty caliber barrels,
Chris Dichter (Sp?),
PacNor HONCHO, was THE ONLY barrel maker in the
USA who asked why the 18" twist, and then asked me to present my idea, as opposed to the, "there's the door, don't let it hit you in the . . . we'll never make those"(or similar comment) from everyone else!
Six weeks later, we had our first PacNor 1:18" twist, five-groove, BBLs, and the rest is history! Oh, and they're all making them now!

Well, "they" mostly settled on 1:17" twist, which, for the bullet lengths used in point-blank BR, provides "off- the-chart" gyroscopic stability . . . makes me wonder why, with the conservative 1:17", they'd ever sell anyone a (marginal) 1:14" twist for use with the typically .850" long 68gr 6mm bullets . . .
Back to, "that year" ('97) - at the NBRSA Hunter Nationals, I collected my first yardage win, using a
PacNor 1:15" twist 5-groove, 30x47HBR - the first of many HoF points collected with
PacNor barrels. Though a great barrel, it was the last 1:15" twist barrel I used on a .30 Cal. competition BR rifle. Great to have
PacNor back!
