P-dog poison....UPDATED 5/4.

I hit one of the new ranches today for p-dogs. Started at 6am as the sun was coming up and stopped at 4pm. I ran 326 rounds into 5 p-dog towns today on this new spot. I am one tired shooter, waxed em alone as pals were working. Had a heck of a time though & was able to lay out about 20 calling spots for coyote. Had a count of 23 nicely horned antelope bucks just hanging out in several spots at 3-400 yards off or so out while I was shooting
The town in the video is a mile long and about 600 yards wide.
Ill be back out tomorrow as well.

5Spd, We all hate you for not taking us along on this trip. Wow so the wind still is blowing out there! Almost forgot what it was like. Reminds me of some great and lazy p-dog hunts. The best way of getting tired. We were up around Miles City in Montana and after temps reached 104 degrees, those late afternoon beers back in town sure were tasty and went down real smooth.

That sure looks like fun, I can't imagine what it would be like to get that many shots at critters in a day.

My Dad and I left at 11:00 yesterday to go groundhog and got back at 6:00, we went to 3 different farms and got one groundhog a piece. We considered that a good day, lol!

That's looks like an awesome place. What state were in? There are many folks saying that there aren't many PD's anymore. Great choice of calibers, simple, easy to load for and does the job!

Hello every one. I am new here. I am an old bald fat man that loves to shoot at P-dogs. I shoot a old win 70 bull bbl. 22-250. I also have 2 other builds in the AR platform. Been shooting about 30 years. Also am avid reloader for the same amount of time.

So old that I have had to stop hunting big game in the high country. Lost my legs, well not true. They are just worn out like the rest of the body parts. I still shoot every chance I get in TX Panhandle. There are still some dogs there. Getting harder and harder to find land owners that will allow shooters.
What I am here for is to seek help finding place to shoot the little critters. Went to Thunder basin in WY. a year or so back. There was not much left as far as p dogs. There were dog towns but the B LM would not give access. "STUDY AREA".
Any one out there that would give an geezer a little help would be greatly appreciated.

Good hunt report! OTOH, cattle growers in SD go to NE to get poison, so we can't find/shoot PDs on their ranches anymore. :-[

Next time your pals are working gimme a call. I am retired now and love wastin pdawgs.. And I right down the road in Rock Springs.

Hit it again today. Got there about 530am at light, was setting my junk up when I heard a coyote pack sounding off in the gullies about 1/2 mile off. So Ive not called coyote at all waiting for my pal so we can hit it at night, BUT this was to tempting so off I hiked w/my shockwave and AR15 in 6x6.8.
Set up about 610am, started calling above the gullies in a nice open area, yup one comes flying in at the 11min mark downwind of me slams on the brakes at 80 feet not even seeing me but the shockwave decoy & as I turn on it, he throws it into full after burner and before I get it in the scope its 100yds out. I lead it my 2 mildots and drop it at 165 yards with a 55g NBT behind the right shoulder & out its neck at that angle. I am glad it didn't head the way it came in the dips but along a nice open fence line.
You can see it in the pic 2nd post from the left, that white spot. It was a large male at 37 lbs, heck with its winter coat it would of be a 40lb dog. Its was scruffy furred between season coats.
Hiked back and ran 180 rounds into p-dogs & called it an early day at noon to get ready for the work week.
Bottom is another p-dog vid, click on the pic...just tapped that one in the head and it sorts flopped on the mound, cant see it that far out though.

This is one of my ranches in CO & is only a 40 min drive from Cheyenne WY.
Places are overloaded w/them on the ranches I call/shoot on.

Beautiful country and pictures..Thanks for sharing the videos as well as the pictures.. Congratulations on the Coyote...Sounds like you have some really good Prairie Dog shooting. Reminds me of some of the places I hunt out there.. Keep us posted as you continue the P-Dog Poison....George
 
Well this answered one of my questions in that PM. You are unreal good. Good at both finding places to hunt and shooting/hunting.
