I need a few outdoor cameras I can use for property theft. Id like something I can disguise or put behind silvered glass(one way glass).
Anyone have any recommendations? I need for dAy and night(IR). Are IR led visiable? I saw something aBOUT GLOW.

Re: outdoor cameras for property theft

I have a complete system of Foscam cameras around my place. Many are in plain view, I see that as a deterrent also. I use there software with the motion alerts that text and email myself and my wife. All HD cameras I can read licence plates with them.

I put in a 4 camera system (wireless) from Sam's Club. They have remote capabilities and they work great.

Mine are two English Mastiffs. Bonnie & Clyde. 160 & 195 lbs. Loyal friends.

We are down to 2 Pit Bulls and one Lab/Coon Hound/Blue Tick, besides the dogs take vacation when we do.....

I just installed a replacement system a home, first one (new house) lasted just over 4 years before the controller crapped out....on 24/7 with a 40,000 hour life expectancy.....

I upgraded to 6 cameras from 4, got 1 TB of storage and placed the controller in a more secure spot, you have to remember if they go in the house

they will try to grab the system, if they do you have no evidence.

Trying to hide the cameras behind glass, even your "one way" has many pitfalls especially at night in IR mode.....you won't see anything.

If you are not tech enough the guys at Brickhouse can help.

This is the system I use now.....

It seems like the ones that upload to the internet are a good idea because the thieves can't steal it. I remember a lady seeing her house being robbed while at work.
I have two dogs, Timex & Rolex.....they're watch dogs !!

go to www.ipcamtalk.com. you want something in HD. i have 3 cameras for the outside of my house and they are visible by design. I want folks to see them. i run blue iris software on an old PC with a 1TB drive. alerts are emailed to me and include both a static picture and a short video. i built this system myself.

you can do things like put the video capture system on wifi (no wires) and hide it somewhere where they wont be able to trace wires or you could probably go to some sort of cloud based real-time upload.

if you build the system yourself, you can save a lot of money. i use hikvision HD cameras and each cost just over 100 bucks. software was less than 50. i bought a poe router, a 1000 feet of ubiquti tough cable and some cable termination tools. the video provided is true HD (like HD TV). i can connect to it via my android phone and via a browser.

i believe in visible cams. also you want to put cameras low, at face level. lots of folks put them up high. when someone is breaking into your house, all you see is the ballcap covering their hoodie.
