Our favorite steak house.

The best steakhouse I've been to in the States was "Pinnacle Pete" in El Cajon, Calif, in the late 60's/early 70's. Was on Magnolia Blvd. All the steaks were cooked over mesquite in the middle of the dining room. Your steak covered your plate. Had to work on it for a bit to get a place for your beans which were served family style. The only other item was a loaf of bread. Well.... there was also "adult beverages".

Buck Knives had a plant just down the street. For a dollar they would sharpen your knife and have it ready the next day.

The famous Bostonia Ballroom was not too far away. A country western bar and dance hall. If I remember correctly, it could hold about 1,000
people.

El Cajon was out in the "country" then.

My son's a Chef at an upscale Steakhouse in Detroit ( Roast). Closed now of course due to this Covid thing but they probably serve the best ribeye I've ever eaten. I'm not much for dry aged beyond say 45-50 days but they dry age for up too180 days. Way too rich and cheesy tasting for me. I prefer my own home cooked ribeye. I built a grate welded to a long rebar handle where I lay the Ribeyes and slide in my 200,000 btu wood stove. Only takes maybe 1-2 minutes to finish a steak to med rare. Nothing better than a wood fire seared ribeye IMO. Made another long armed plate welded to a rebar handle for baking pizza in the stove also. Takes maybe 3 minutes to cook one. Excellent as well.
