Our favorite steak house.

We went to our favorite steak house last night!..........I had grilled catfish:(
Damned Doctor told me my cholesterol was a little high...in front of my wife.
I've had close to knock down drag out fights with 3 different doctors on the subject of cholesterol. At the end, one of them finally admitted that cholesterol really isn't a big deal, triglycerides on the other hand is. Triglycerides can be controlled with diet, cholesterol which is a part of your natural digestive process, and produced in the liver can be altered with medications. The medication that is prescribed for "cholesterol" most often (statins) was the stuff prescribed for acne medication back in the 60s and 70s. The doctors make a portion of their yearly income on kick-backs from the pharmaceutical companies. Two of the 3 doctors that were going to "put me on cholesterol meds" got real pissy when I told them you can prescribe it, but I will not take it. My wife's mother and oldest brother both contracted liver cancer and died shortly after being put on cholesterol meds. Watch the evening news (any channel) most all the commercials are sponsored by big pharma, pushing one drug or another. This is just my opinion, but I think the big pharmaceutical companies create conditions/ailments just to sell drugs. Pay attention to the commercials, while the actor playing a physician, and the calming music are playing read the disclaimers to the majority of these drugs. The cure is worse than what they are treating, many of them the side effects of these drugs is death.
Oh, that doctor owes you a big steak dinner by the way.

If your liver was doing its job properly it would sense what was taken in from your diet and adjust its output/manufacture accordingly. Sort of like how a properly working fuel injection system balances fuel delivery with oxygen/air intake. Instead of spending billion$ on testing, someone ought to research why the liver makes more than the body needs.

So jealous. I just want to go out to eat, sit at a normal table, have a decent meal. Thinking about the crap we gotta do...distance, throw away menus, distancing...makes the idea not appealing. I'd be happy with a backyard picnic, some grilled beef, coleslaw, spuds and a Jamison on ice.

Ok ok —just trying to help out partner:D

Sorry. Didn’t mean to yell. Here, on the other side of the fence, we husbands lose ground and never get it back. If I “trade” my ice cream for more steaks, I’ll never get my ice cream back. In the future, she’ll cut back my steaks, feed me chicken, smile and say “I just love you. It’s for your own good!”:(:rolleyes:

For years, when my family travels would take me to Arizona (usually as temporary research assignments by my father's employer), starting as a 9 year old in 1952, my favorite steakhouse in the whole country was Rod's Steak House in Williams, AZ. Long after Rod died, I was able to get there with my wife about 1983, and it was still great.

Anyone out that way know if Rod's is still open and still great?

Life is getting back to somewhat normal with our favorite steak house reopening... Man it was good!! Torino’s in Springfield, TN...
I have to say I haven’t had a good steak in a long time and this thread sure has me wishing for one. Actually the restaurants can open here 50% capacity on 11th- don’t think I’ll go though. I may be a hermit forever:eek:
