Our Constitutional Rights

@jds holler I pretty much agree with you, but I have to ponder how we got to this point in our country? If the founding father's put in place for us not to lose our 2A, how has this happened? I have been infringed my entire life, and I'm 65 years old. How could we have let this happen? We have taken too much for granted over the past 100 years. We can't trust the left.

That made me spit ice tea on my keyboard! :p
How we got here, in my opinion, was easy living, taking for granted that someone was taking care of business, and not finding time to stay engaged in real issues.

A perfect example is how any of us property owners pay a pretty healthy lump of money on our property taxes, -- most of which goes to our public school costs. I myself have NEVER been to a school board meeting, but still do plenty of bitching about the little brain-washed morons that the schools are pumping out.

By far the greatest number of us gun owners and enthusiasts don't hardly move the needle with monetary support to 2A organizations. As usual it is about ten percent pulling the cart, and 90 percent taking a free ride.

I mean no offense, but even among members here, if you don't see a gold or silver status along side their name -- well that person likely hasn't donated to any of the pro-2A organizations either.

All too often, we don't have our rights taken away from us, --we simply give them up without a fight. jd

I have pondered this plenty...we didn't even have property tax until the 1900s...Hmmm

I have been to several board meetings, and trust me, I was not a popular person. LOL I did serve as an officer for the Marching Band for about 3-1/2 years, but I ended up resigning over differences of opinion. The school board would only fund academic subjects, so any music, art, even sports can't get funding. Marching Band is about $1000/year per student, most of it going to uniform cleaning. Art was less, I think about $400/year. Sports wasn't as bad, but no funding. My daughter played on the softball team, they weren't allowed to use the lights on the field at night as to not bother neighboring properties around the back of the school. o_O And as far as donating, my wife traveled and cooked for the Marching Band students for 8 years. 4 years for each of our kids. She would spend an entire day with other people helping her to have hot food for the kids.

I mean no offense, but even among members here, if you don't see a gold or silver status along side their name -- well that person likely hasn't donated to any of the pro-2A organizations either.

The system is broken. Last year I donated for Silver membership, but shortly after I thought I was upgrading, but it just gave me a year of Silver from the time I donated. I didn't notice at the time, but when my silver status ended I realized what had happened. FWIW, I do donate to several 2A orgs, 2AF, FPC and GOA. That's about all I can afford right now. 2AF (Alan Gottlieb) used to speak at the 2A Council in Santa Clara. If it wasn't for Alan we wouldn't have Heller, let alone Bruen. 2AF and FPC have a stay on the pistol brace rule for the members, but it's unclear how that will play out in California.

The reason I didn't upgrade again is because I was already paid for another year, and there were a few people I had too much contention with, so I didn't use this forum for a long time. To explain myself, I work on open source software mostly. Many of the forums would not have any members accessing if it wasn't for Linux and other open source software. How many of those forums donate to open source development? Same with YT, when YT demonetizes a channel they whine and complain as if YT owes them a job. How many of those channels donate to open source software? Open source runs on Androids, and webkit used in many browsers came from the KDE project. Something to think about...

All too often, we don't have our rights taken away from us, --we simply give them up without a fight. jd

That is exactly what happened with our 2A. But there is hope, more so today than ever in my lifetime. Just that I don't think it's gonna be easy. The left will not roll over so easy, they believe they can play this game forever. But it is ending...because "we the people" have had enough. I believe we'll take this country back to it's roots.

California Voting Muscle

I have long been a supporter of the State of Jefferson, and I own property in Lake County, the most southern county of the 2016 proposed State of Jefferson. There is a long history on this split, but suffice to say, California gets 55 electoral votes. This is almost twice as many electoral votes as the next state which is about 29 electoral votes.

California has a lot of influence because of this muscle, and it is not surprise that California has long been anti-2A and pro gun-control. But trust me on this, we're not all bad people and there are 2A advocates here in CA, don't think otherwise. From just prior to the Gold Rush, which had the biggest impact on CA, people were migrating to Northern Oregon on the Oregon trail which runs from MO to OR. It's a long stretch. Then when the gold rush hit in '48, many people migrated to San Francisco. Most people don't know that Northern California and Southern Oregon are some of the most beautiful country, however, it's hard to access, and hence why the State of Jefferson was proposed for a 2nd time in 2016. I mentioned Lake County was one of the most southern counties in the proposal, just south of that is Napa, Sonoma, Solano and Marin. Let me tell you (nothing against the woke), but those counties are pretty woke and seem to support a lot of the left woke agenda. The State of Jefferson would be a very difficult change to pass as it will require both Oregon and California senates to vote in favor, and I don't think that will ever happen, the left knows what will happen.

Sooner or later the imbalance of the electoral system will need to be revisited by congress, IMO. Traditionally if a person could secure both NY and CA, they were almost a shoe in. Trump however, found a way to beat that system. This could help and/or effect a lot people on this forum. Keep your fingers crossed.;)

Above it was said that many people on this forum vote towards the left. I agree, and have nothing against Democrats. Many Democrats support the 2A. There is no hard fast rule on opinions.

I work closely with a dem. We work will together ans she is for guns. Go figure that, a dem that likes guns... there is no way she will ever vote against dems. Even though she is for gun rights. In my mind how the $@// can someone do that? Even if they support 2nd amendment they still vote left wing?

Remember this guys - the voters don't decide who runs for office. I believe Trump has made compromises to be where he is, but time will tell. I think you will continue to see our freedoms usurped. Remember what they do to presidents who don't play the game?

This is mentioned in the Bible more than once. And we are not a nation pulling together for righteousness. As mentioned by others in this thread, Christ is the only answer.

Luke 11:17 “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and a divided household falls".

This part is interesting. If in fact, 18 U.S. Code § 922 - Unlawful acts, turns out to be unconstitutional, the same law deals with SBSs, SBRs, et al

Each section includes a similar disclaimer of the following, and if you think about it, if it's unconstitutional to prohibit a machinegun, the same law covers destructive devices, short-barreled shotguns and short barreled rifles.

(4) for any person, other than a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector, to transport in interstate or foreign commerce any destructive device, machinegun (as defined in section 5845 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986), short-barreled shotgun, or short-barreled rifle, except as specifically authorized by the Attorney General consistent with public safety and necessity;

That seems too good to be true, but still I bet Dettlebach is droppin' a steamin' potato in his pants...

I can’t watch it. The guy just rambles and repeats himself. It’s so unprofessional, I don’t believe a word of it.

That actually surprises you? The gun question is one part of policy that drives our entire existence.

You guys need to quit with the us/them divide and realize that people actually have differing views, and don't blindly follow party slates. People believe in a particular party because the overall thrust appeals to them, not just one facet of that overall view (though I have noticed that one facet that they disagree with is often enough to turn people away from a party line...) Party affiliates are rarely 100% on-board with the entire party slate, unless they're running for office.

My shooting buddies seem to be fairly evenly split between Democrats and Republicans. With one Anarchist thrown in to keep things either interesting or aggravating, depending on what he's spouting at the moment. But one of the things we have in common is that we are shooters.

Some of you may be familiar with retired Judge Michael Luttig, he is very conservative appellate court justice, a Federalist Society member and highly thought of by lawyers, law professors, Constitutional law experts and Constitutional historians, the most learned when it comes to law. He has made statements in the last month that everyone should be know about. He like all of us, believe that what is most important about our country is we are a Nation of LAWS, laws are our standard, our precedents and history. Like many of you, when I entered the military service of the U.S., I swore an oath to the Constitution of the United States. That was over 60 years ago, I still honor, support and will defend (with an 82 Y.O body) our U.S. I would suggest you lookup on YouTube Judge Luttig, listen and think about his comments, watch all of them. One of the things he said is "We are not taught right from left, we are taught right from wrong". Please look him up. Many in foreign lands, and the immigrants know more about our government than our citizens, many native born can't pass the immigration test. A democracy requires well informed and knowledgeable citizens.

Yes we were a nation of laws, many of which at the state/local level are unconstitutional. All we need is legislative law which requires the immediate removal of representative status from any elected official who authors/votes for an unconstitutional law. Any taxpayer employee who violates a CITIZENS constitutional right is fired immediately. Billions of taxpayer dollars/resources saved, no more open borders. No more lobbyists, lawyers making generational wealth off taxpayers. No more deficit spending. All judges would HAVE to take the constitution into consideration in any ruling. Congress would function quickly and efficiently.
